(Closed) Rant: mother pressured me into buying a cheap dress…now what?

Step 1: Go dress shopping WITHOUT your mother.

Step 2: Buy the dress of your dreams with YOUR OWN MONEY.

Step 3: Sell the dress and ask your mom if she would like the money back that you got for it or if you can keep it against the cost of your new dress.

Sorry, but anytime you let someone else hold the purse strings over any aspect of your wedding, you sort of cede the decision making to them. If you were uncomfortable with your mother’s budget, you never should have let her buy you a dress in the first place. It sucks that she doesn’t seem as excited for your wedding as she should be and that she bullied you into getting a dress you weren’t happy with, but all you can do now is fix the problem as best you can and move on.

And for what it’s worth, I think the dress you have looks lovely on you.
