Sorry for the itchiness πŸ™ Feel better soon..

On a creepy and un-related note, those are my exact allergies, too… (plus morphine)

Oh no πŸ™ The doctor probably should have known that Celebrex has sulpha in it–I would say that the pharmacist should have known, too, but if he/she didn’t know you had that allergy, they wouldn’t know to warn you.

I loooove having surprise allergic reactions to crap. Isn’t it awesome? I usually pop a Loratadine (generic Claritin) and hope for the best.

Most doctors don’t know that Celebrex has a sulfa component in it.  Also, when people say they are allergic to “sulfa”, that usually means the sulfa antibiotics, so even if he knew about Celebrex, maybe he thought that’s what you really meant.  There are some diabetes meds that have a sulfa componenttoo, so it’s not unusual to be able to take those meds and/or Celebrex and not sulfa antibiotics.

Do you have any topical Benadryl cream?  I would try that instead of the pills.  Less systemic absorption, so you should not be as sleepy from it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Urgh, sorry!  That’s something the Pharmacist should have caught.  Hugs!

@GelaMac:  I’ve heard Zyrtec is the best non-drowsy antihistamine. Its supposed to work fastest (for future reference). I’m stockpiled with Claritin right now becuase of my cold urticaria (spelling?).

What an idiot! It is so annoying when doctors don’t do their job right, and dangerous!

That’s super scary! I hope the reaction passes quickly. I also have a sulpha allergy and have been prescribed Celebrex, but I never ended up filling it. Good thing, too!
