Bees, International Bees-
I know that this might be crazy and it is definately a first world problem but today I have been gobsmacked twice at the prosposed postage cost of two seperate things I wanted to order from the US today to be posted to Sydney Australia. Does this drive anyone else Bonkers??
The first thing I went to order today was a Caitlin Wilson Gold Fleur fabric swatch (and literal 3 inch cube of material) that was free but the asking postage was $55 USD! $55 DOLLARS WHAT?
The second thing I went to order was the Kate Spade Fine Fellow Iphone Cover (which cracks me up each and every time i see it) and they asked for $35 postage for a $25 item!
It leaves me feeling so soooooooooooooooo far away from the rest of civilisation and more than a little bit frustrated! Gah.
Is there anything else that has been bugging anyone of late! I think we all need a good whinge every now and then!

justjade: I reckon postage has gone up drastically in the last few years – I used to order lots from the US/UK and it was pretty reasonable – lately it has gotten ridiculous. I needed three led taper candles for the wedding and they were heaps cheaper on US websites of course -except for the $60 of postage! For $10 worth! $50 to ship a NBA jersey for FI, $80 for a watch.

That’s too bad, I get annoyed when I have to pay 5 bucks for shipping from Amazon so I can’t imagine 55!
My latest annoyance: can’t find my new sunglasses. Had ’em all winter and of course now they are nowhere to be found. big problem, I know 😉

justjade: Try a forwarding company. They are usually cheaper and they will package both items together to save postage costs.

I ordered something from Sydney to ship to the US and it was quoted so expensive that I had it shipped to a friend in SYD ey who’s visiting the US in October. I figured I’d save myself $100 and just ask her to hand carry for me!

Yep – what j-jaye said! I use Shipito mail forwarding and they’re great. You can send multiple items to their warehouses and they’ll consolidate them into one package and send it to you reasonably cheaply. I’ve used them for several purchases (including my wedding dress!) and they’re fab. They’ll even take pictures of the contents of your parcel before sending for insurance purposes 🙂

justjade: fellow Aussie here – you’re not alone. The prices drive me insane. Then when you pay for the expensive postage it still takes 2 weeks sometimes to get here. Gah!!!
Shipping has really gone up for everything recently. 🙁 can’t win!!!
