pitmom722:  I don’t have pictures, but a friend of mine used raspberry for her girls in her wedding a couple years ago, and I remember it definitely looked more pink than purple. I used plum for mine, purple can sometimes photograph black, and I thought the plum was a nice shade without being dark or too light.

This color looks best in the satin fabric. It might look too red under yellow lights.

If you want a bright purple color, cassis in the white by vera wang collection is a better choice. If you like light purple, DB has two new colors this year: bouquet and violetta, both of which are brighter than the old iris and wisteria.

pitmom722:  Best thing to do is either order swatches or go in and look at fabric swatches of the colors you are considering. Sangria may be a color you’d consider.

That was the color I was originally considering but I ended up going with Plum after I saw the fabric swatches in store.

Good luck!

Well are you stuck on David’s there are plenty of other popular bridesmaids brands you can find stocked all over the country that will have way more color options. David’s ‘raspberry’ looks almost like red-purplish wine color. If you want bright purple I would probably steer clear of anything with a pink-red undertone.

A brand called DaVinci Bridal has a color called ‘Passion’ which is a pretty vibrant purple color.

They also have a slightly darker color they call ‘Purplish’

You can also check out the collection by Impression Bridal, different label but same company so they share the same colors…

I would also suggest checking out a brand called Dessy we just picked them up in the shop I work at and I am very impressed with the huge variety of colors they have to pick from.

Lux Chiffon ‘Orchid’

Lux Chiffon ‘Dahlia’

Lux Chiffon ‘Radiant Orchid’

Lux Chiffon ‘Wild Berry’

Mori Lee has a color in the regular chiffon called ‘Mulberry’ it’s like the raspberry but with less of that pink tone.

You buy them in stores and most places will give you a group discount. Plus DaVinci Bridal especially is a more cost effective brand. Also most bridal shops will even pricematch if it is from a legit website. Also unlike David’s most bridal shops only require a deposit of half down to order a dress then you can pay the rest when the dress arrives in case you fall in love with something a little over budget.

You need to use the store finder on DaVinci’s website

If you really want to buy online I think Best Bridal is a legitimate online retailer for DaVinci

pitmom722:  Just to back up illusier, I found that dresses at a bridal salon were easily the same price as David’s and Alfred Angelo, especially if you want long dresses (the one I liked at AA was $179 and looked really cheap in person, but one of the ones I wanted at my bridal salon was $199 and was so pretty). The only benefit to David’s is that they are national, so if your girls aren’t all local, I could see wanting to do that. Did you get your gown at a salon? Mine offered an extra 15% off the bridesmaid dresses since we bought them there.
