anonadviceseeker:  I voted a 3.  I like what I do, but I find my colleagues and superiors difficult.  I desire more room for advancement, and a more reasonable workload/hours, so that one day I may achieve a comfortable work-life balance.

I love my job, for the most part. The lack of training and opportunities to move up really suck. If there was more opportunitie, it would hands down be a ten. Also, if it was days…. I work overnights…. so that’s hard lol

I voted an eight – we have some difficult moments but then something comes along which makes the whole thing totally worthwhile.  As I wrote on another thread recently, I’m the Operations Manager for Australia’s busiest orchestra – it’s a complicated matrix of people, equipment, venues, and music which can make for some stressy times (and early mornings, which I don’t do well!).  But I wouldn’t be happy unless I was in the arts, and hearing the orchestra perform well and knowing I had a hand in that is great.  Plus there are occasional days like one documented in this YouTube clip:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttDrZ3aiTUs

We had such an amazing day that day, it made all the early mornings, late nights, bruises from roadcases, panic when you open a harp case at rehearsal to find there’s no harp in it, phone calls to say the orchestra pit is flooded (yes it happened) and the stress worthwhile.  Now, if I could just find a way to stop some of the people I work with taking their frustration out on me, it would be a 9!

I voted 3. Like it isn’t the worst job i;ve ever done, but I’m just tolerating it. Its a temp job, I need the cash.

Is there an option for negatives?  Definitely a 1.  I am miserable every morning I get up and go to work; now that I am part time, it is taking a toll on our bills too. I have 2 college degrees and still can’t get a job that pays me over minimum wage!  Time to go back to school..

    I voted a 4. I love my job but I hate where I work.
