Alright so this may sound funny but I hope you guys see where i’m coming from
I’ve been deciding on my e-ring and as the budget is tight, I might not be able to get the exact setting I want. (Moissaniteco sells in USD and the conversion to AUD makes a decent difference in price)
I’ve been looking at the sol074 as for around $500 I could have a 1ct stone.
I’m not really a fan of how high the moissy sits and would rather it sit in the setting with a less prominent prong, more like this: So my question really is, with the sol074 would it be really hard to take it to a jewler much later on and have them make the original band look like that?

Hi and congratulations in advance. I would think a whole new head (prongs) would need to be put on. Or perhaps a skilled jeweler could cut and polish the existing ones shorter so the moissy sits lower. But I also have read that Australian jewelers are very expensive for repairs. Can you perhaps request the vendor set the stone super low on this setting?

Slick: Thank you! Yeah, jewlers are pricey here. I’ll have to shoot over an email to the good people of moissaniteco to see if they could do that. I assume they’ll just link me to rings that are similar that are lower set.

Aussiebride2015: I’m in Adelaide. From what I know Moimoi is one of the only places in Aus that works with Moissy 🙁

You can ask moissaniteco to set the stone lower and make the profile of the ring lower..im sure they can do this for you..is the second ring you posted out of your budget?

I’m in the US, so may not have very helpful advice, but…
Would it not be less expensive to purchase the setting you like (#2) locally, and just purchase a loose stone from Moissantco? You could deliver the purchased stone to the dealer providing your semi-mount, and have it set locally.

Moissaniteco custom makes rings. If you contact them, they can set it in a head like that. And it should be close to the same price. Email them and ask! They are very reasonably priced.

Congratulations! FWIW I like the lower set prongs on the 2nd. Contact customer service from what I hear on the Bee they do very good custom work. Otherwise a jeweler should be able to switch out the prongs easily.

mrssloan2013: For the 1ct, it is out of budget. The closest thing I can find is this, http://www.moissaniteco.com/round-moissanite-4prong-solitaire-ring-2mm-p-8236.html which is in budget but not exactly the setting I want still.

I’m just waiting on an email back from moissaniteco and see what they say.
http://www.bluenile.com/solitaire-engagement-ring-white-gold_19788 that setting is exactly what i’m after. I’ll have to go to some jewelers and ask how much they’ll charge.
Thanks for the help everyone!
