You know, my florist gave me an amazing idea when picking some vases for our reception. Kasey suggested (Kasey Currie…AMAZING designer in the Atlanta ‘burbs) I get different sized glass vases. One vase, the super big one for the main large reception centerpiece, she said would be perfect for seasonal arrangements in our home, and that it would be versatile.
So…I took her fabulous suggestion using some laquered real gourds and mini pumpkins, and some of the curly willow leftover and made this for my mantle.
A wedding is but one day of our lives, albeit a fabulous one, but doncha think in this economy that thinking ahead to actually buying something you WILL reuse in the future is not only smart for the wallet but also eco-friendly too?
I say reuse and reuse!
What else will I do with my glass cylinders? Easy peasy. I’m going to use some holiday ornaments, holly (put into a large floral foam ball on top) to make my mantle centerpiece for the Christmas/holiday season!
Have any of you done this? I think it’s great! If so, show us your creativity and post your revamped wedding and reception accessories!
Fwiw, this was just taken via my camera on my cell.

Thanks Caszos and Sulli! I loved Kasey’s suggestion. Plus I can reuse it for having parties at our house too.

We have definitely kept our wedding items around to use in the house, my bouquets are fabric and feather, so now they have a home in vases on my bedroom dresser, we are framing my hair feather and DH’s bout in shadow box frames to hang, and we have our lanterns to use in our yard in the summer, and will put some out in our house. Our cake topper (the word love made out of thick wire) lives on our mantle! I love having those items around to see every day!

oooh Jordyn. That sounds great! I could think of some amazing things with apothecary jars.
Like this. With succulents or a terrarium.

I reused my apothocary jars. I loved them too much to part with them. Some became candle holders in our guest bedroom. I use one for cookies in the kitchen. Two are in my bathroom holding cotton balls and hair ties and the rest will be used at Christmas time and filled with ornaments. I’m also reusing our topiaries for Christmas decorations.

@Ms Mini May I ask where you got your cake topper from? I have been looking for something like that forever!

I used a ton of stuff, and gave a lot of it to my mom. She has my bird cage card box as a candle holder, some vases, and some napkins (I bought floral hankies to use as napkins and had a ton).
I also have a lot of napkins. I had doilies under the centerpieces and now they’re scattered around the house. I framed my something blue- an antique hankie with blue flowers.

@bellenga: I love those terrariums! We have cats that LOVE to get into our houseplants, so this would be a perfect solution to keep them out. Thanks for posting!

@bellenga: This just made me laugh, because I think I have a few of those same cylinder vases, and while you used them to decorate and pretty up your mantle, I use them to hold toilet paper. They are seriously the perfect size. Just thought it was funny that we totally went different ways on that!
