- Wedding: May 2015 - Antique Rose Emporium
Date: Friday May 1, 2015
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
budget: $3,500 — this includes EVERYTHING we are spending (travel fees, hotel, venue, food, decor, my dress, rings, everything.)
We live in Texas but are getting married in SC. We dated for 3 years long distance and then I left home and have lived in TX with him for 4 years. Now we are returning to my hometown for the wedding. The wedding is taking place at The Cooper House, a 102 yr old victorian home next door to my hometown’s first trading post/post office. the ceremony will take place under a large oak tree draped in Spanish moss in the backyard. After getting ready in the house I exit down a staircase and walk down the aisle to a piano version of Avicii – Fade Into Darkness. My bouquet is handmade burlap and paper flowers made from the emails my Fiance sent me over our time in a LDR, with baby’s breath. I have three bm’s (my two big sisters and my bff) but my Fiance may not have any groomsmen, only 1 if any. He is from TX and may not have many people travel that long distance.
After the ceremony, for the next 30 minutes I plan to have wedding party portraits done while the guests enjoy appetizers and outdoor games (cornhole and such, not sure yet) and also a DIY photobooth.
Dinner will be served in the old preserved General Store. The walls are lined with wooden shelves and behind the original vintage banker’s cage, our bartender will serve two signature drinks: a virgin peach daiquiri (my Fiance doesn’t drink) and mine is a spiked milkshake of bourbon and caramel.
The colors are shades of light pink and beige. Our centerpieces are vintage books stacked together with decorated glass bottles holding baby’s breath. Think bookpages, lace, and burlap. The table will be scattered with candles as well as bookpage heart confetti. Dinner is cheese crusted rolls, green beans, garlic new potatoes, and pesto pasta with chicken and cheese. We are debating on whether to have a wedding cake. We are not having a dj. Music will be done by us with a Spotify playlist. Don’t know about the wedding favors yet. Want something that ties in our new home in Texas.
Keeping in mind that this is a small lunch time wedding, on a Friday, with around 50 guests, does this sound like…too informal? Or disappointing? I’m second guessing everything now. We did so much to keep the cost down sincewe are paying for everything ourselves that I’m worried we sacrificed too much and our guests will feel like they wasted their time. We did it on a Friday bc it was cheaper, and did it early to keep food cost down and so that we could go out and do stuff later as I haven’t been back home in four years and want to see the beach and spend time with family.
