It’s lovely.

I was the same way with my fiance – I have a post somewhere recently with a picture of the ring he gave me. I didn’t have any input for him (well, anything useful haha) and he did an amazing job!!

So, here’s my question (coming from another low-key jewlery person): how high is that setting? Because if it pops up too much off of her finger, she might find that uncomfortable. You do get used to it, but it does catch on things!

Other than that question, I think the ring and the setting are both very unique and beautiful, and I’m sure she will love it – because it came from you!

@ManWhoIsReady:  Lawdy that’s a beautiful stone! Congrats on making the decision! This must be so exciting for you. It’s fun to hear a little from someone on the “other side” of the proposal! Do you have a plan for how/when you will do it?

@ManWhoIsReady:  Is she traditional or unconventional? Im only asking because this is a tradioonal ring (except the stone). Is there a particular reason that you picked that style? Have a look at her style (clothes) as well as other jewellery to help you decide. Also, think what colours that work well with her skin tone. I have cognac diamond btw. Only telling you because not many know about these! By The Way the ring you chose is lovely.

I LOVE this.  I think the peridot solitaire is amazing.  I think a solitaire definitely gives the idea of it being an engagement ring, especially when worn on the proper finger.

I love that you’re going with a gemstone.  My fiance and I also share the same birthstone (an emerald) and I told him I didn’t want the traditional diamond.  I gave him a bit more guidance than your girlfriend did to you, but I ended up with this, and I love it:

I think the peridot would be very special for you, as you share that birthstone and your also planning on proposing then. And don’t worry about the durability thing.  Gemstones are all strong and delicate in their own ways and I’m sure she’ll take good care of it.

EDIT: Sorry, just saw that you went with a green sapphire.  It’s very lovely!

Love the stone you picked out!  My setting is very similar to the one you picked out, (6 prong) except with some side diamonds, and I have to echo that since your girlfriend is active (into sports, etc) it might get caught on things.

I do not consider myself a very active person (I work out once in a while, but no contact sports!) and have only had my ring for 3 months and the prongs seem to catch on everything!   I really try to be careful, but I’m going to the jeweler tonight because the prongs do not seem to be securely hugging the diamond as well as I think they should.

Because of this, I would encourage you to consider a bezel setting, or ask your jeweler what type of setting they would recommend for her lifestyle.

If she only had the one request then she probably REALLY doesn’t carw what color you choose and the green has a great significance for the 2 of you but like other people have said, think about the long term wear of the ring. I am gentle enough as an office worker and still find I am smashing my hand with the ring on it into so many different things and harsh objects brushing against it all too often I’m glad it doesn’t scratch but Peridot will probably not hold up to wear and tear of every day life so you may want to look into stones that will but the ring is beautiful and if Peridot held up better I’d LOVE that exact ring.

@ManWhoIsReady:  LOVE the sapphire you purchased. I think its a much better idea than the softer, brighter peridot. Have you settled on a setting?

ETA: re-read the post about the sapphire and see you’re going with the white gold solitaire setting.  I think it’ll be perfect!!! And then she can decide whether she wants a plain wedding band, or if she wants to add a bit more sparkle with a pave one.

I am looking for a yellow sapphire ring right now…so I have something  different to wear sometimes instead of my engagement ring…Personally, yellow diamonds and sapphires are my favorite stones after clear diamonds…So, I would suggest to pick a ring with yellow stone LOL
