i am also shocked that you are allowed to just arbitrarily toss out one of your children that way. you would think that if you had 2 or more children and were chosing to give just ONE up that would be a huge red flag for social services.

the world surprises me in not so great ways all the time :/

Yikes! I’ve heard about great-grandparents that this happened to as well and other folks of two generations past but I had hoped that, like other nasty practices, this had been wiped out! I just feel so bad for the poor little boy…

It is a very sad situation. I would tell her that next time his birthday rolls around go find him. Have a happy reunion….and while you are at it explain your POS husband didn;t want him around so he had to go. One would hope he found a great home and had a better life then he would have had there.

Unfortunately we all have heard a story where a woman picked a man over her child. How many times have you heard a story of abuse where the woman ignores it because her man couldn’t do that. The child gets blamed. Or a man doesn;t treat his step-children the same as his bio ones? Sometimes we live in a sad, sad world.

Unbelievable!  She doesn’t/didn’t deserve to have any more children. If I knew a friend or family member that did that, I would cut them out of my life.

My heart goes out to the grandmother and the rest of the family — not only did they lose the child, but they had to discover what an awful person the woman was. For the child’s sake, I hope he found a happy and healthy home.

That is seriously one of the most heartbreaking stories I have ever heard. I cannot believe that anyone could even imagine doing something like this. The depth of some people’s depravity never ceases to shock me to my core.

@CaitMarae: No, no, no!!!  Sorry, I didn’t mean that you knew the person, just that if I knew or ever found out that someone I knew did something like that, the person would no longer exist to me.  Sorry!!!!

This reminds me of when wild animals, like male lions, kill the young of another male .
