You would save a lot of money by having silk orchids and stephanotis, those are pricey flowers. It’s not a bad idea at all. And you could travel with the silk flowers without worrying about damaged/wilting bouquets and bouts.

Then again, if you’re like me and simply love flowers, it might not be a bad idea to pay for the real thing! Do you have a strict flower budget?

Personally, I love silk flowers.  I make a lot of arrangements.  I was going to have hand made fake arrangements at my wedding, but then I started getting the comments.  I should have stuck to my guns.  If it’s what you love, do it!  Esp. for your bouquet, no one will know..

I am a little bias here. I didn’t have a huge flower budget so I went to a silk florist to purchase our flowers and I do not regret it at all. They came out beautiful and very inexpensive. I say do what you really want to do as long as you stay within your budget. Then you will be happy no matter what you decide.

i love real. i didn’t have much of a budget either, so i did diy for most of the flowers. but i get that different people have different opinions and you should do what you like.

I went with silk florals because I have crazy allergies and I was able to do all the bouquets/bouts for $200…real florals are really gorgeous, though, but I couldn’t do it. We had 6 attendants on each side, so…$200 was pretty sweet

I’m going to have to disagree with other bees here and vote for real flowers. I made a practice bouquet using fakes and found out that in order to make it look good, you have to buy the REALLY nice silk flowers, which are very expensive. In fact, the high-quality silk flowers ended up being MORE than just buying wholesale real ones. Check out fiftyflowers’s website first and do some cost comparison.

We also are traveling to our wedding. We are getting married in my hometown in the Midwest and currently live in the South. We are driving there in order to load all of the wedding stuff, so we have been buying silk florals so we can have everything ready to go ahead of time. It may save you a lot of stress to just have the flowers ready ahead of time.

One thing I would recommend to you is the Real Touch flowers; they look very realistic and even feel like flowers.
