Ladies, you all look so beautiful in your dresses. I’m getting more and more excited about my Lorie!
A bit of a personal question, but what did you do about underpinnings for your dresses? Any opinions on sewn in cups vs bra? I’m having trouble finding a bra that works with the dress, but maybe I’m just not looking in the right places?
@Bzztjay: I needed neither (and I’m not flat chested). I didn’t want to bother with finding a bra that worked with the dress, and while my seamstress could have sewn in cups for extra $, I found that the boning/corset already in the dress was enough support for me.
@simone_s: I was originally looking for a trumpet style gown when I began my search, I did not expect to love an A-line this much! My Bridal consultant pinned the dress back to show how the trumpet style would look with this gown, I am not sure if it will end up as drastic as my photo i posted, but probably close. I know alterations will be expensive, but I am so in love with this dress it doesn’t matter! I am very petite and short, so the goal is to show some curves.
@Lilsicily: I noticed form the photos that you went to a bridal boutique in Fair Oaks. I acutally tried on dresses there with my sister and my sister ended up buying her dress from there. the Maggie Sottero Jalissa. her alterations were also very pricy. She wanted to do more alterations to add sleeves and to cover the back so its not a strapless gown. The seamstress from that boutique told her that if she did the alterations from home she would be cutting out the boutique costs and it would cost her less. Not sure how far along you are in alterations but its something I would suggest looking into. The only catch is I believe her home is in Loomis. She went ahead with that arrangement and saved a few hundred dollars on the sleeve alterations to her dress. All the other alterations she did at the boutique.
I can’t wait to see your dress when its ready!!
I too just purchased this dress! absolutely in love with it! I don’t have any pics of myself trying it on as I tried on a size 20!! And my measurements were btwn 0-2!!
Just wondering from others who have purchased this dress…what size did you purchase? Did you go a size down or a size up?
I chose to go a size up as my waist is the exact measurement of the size 2. But my bust and hips were below the size 0. I didn’t want to risk having the corset be too far apart as I prefer a more thin corset. I also tried on the Emma in a size four and the bust was just the tiniest too large…so I was also worried going down to the 0 that my bust (even tho my measurements were below the 0 for bust) would be too small or tight.
Anyone have troubles altering the hips in. My measurements for hips was 33 and the size I purchased was 35!
