- Wedding: January 2012
Hey bees! Just so you know, I accidentally submitted a recap that wasn’t finished…this is the real one!
I felt… incredibly grateful and moved the day of my wedding. I thought I would be a bundle of nerves. Instead, I was led through the day with laughter, tenderness, and mindfulness of the day’s significance…by some of the dearest people in my life.
I woke up beside my best friend, “A,” who came from the States for my wedding. She was my Maid/Matron of Honor and I consider her my sister.
It was quite early, and she was still asleep. I quietly grabbed my laptop and opened the weather channel website in fear of rain. Then I scrolled down my facebook feed and absolutely died laughing! It was 5am and my close friend and hairstylist “M” had just returned from a club and posted pictures from his night out. One of the pictures was this:
I forgot about the potential rain for once and broke out laughing.
How on earth would he be able to be at my house in 6 hours ready to do our hair??
It turns out most of my friends who came for the wedding all went out for a very late and very wild night! I hoped they had the energy for yet another wild night at the wedding reception! We Greeks keep dancing until the morning!
M arrived on time and was in a good mood, telling us hilarious stories from the club. Apparently several friends who shall remain nameless took turns dancing in the club’s cage- LOL) M got started on A’s hair and soon after the rest of my friends arrived. Here are some highlights of the day:
Yes even with my hair frizzed up like that I still managed to give orders!! lol
Above, I’m showing J my grandmother’s wedding purse that she gave me to use on my special day. 🙂 This meant a lot to me.
A quiet happy moment with friends while getting my hair done.
M making magic with my hair. 🙂
Laughter kept me sane…
Being a diva…. 😉
My makeup artist deserves some kind of metal for how she made me look!!
The buffet spread. I was really stressed out that my friends weren’t eating enough! I kept yelling at them to eat. 🙂
On the right, my wedding day schedule which I checked regularly to everyone’s amusement!
Yes, I actually hugged my dress because I loved it so much…lol… Again- to everyone’s amusement!
Easing into my dress! I could not believe the time had come…I loved having my mom, aunt, and Maid/Matron of Honor dressing me together.
A half hour before everyone was scheduled to leave, the house really filled up! Grandmothers, aunts, uncles and cousins were everywhere! It was a very intense time because although I had been quite calm all day, I started to get very tense and nervous. I cry SO easily. I cry at everything. I had kept it together all day (just a tear here and there), but now my makeup was on and the stakes were high!
Then my father first saw me all ready in my dress…he started to cry. Well…there was no hope for me anymore. I started crying..
My friends gathered round me trying to make me laugh and calm down.
Maid/Matron of Honor and I having special moments. 🙂
Time to pin in my silk tulle veil! Eat your heart out Kate Middleton! 😉
Above is my favorite picture from the house..my tissue in hand, my two closest friends beside me, helping me to get ready and stay at peace during such an anxious time! I love their reflections in the mirror…So thankful for them.
Here’s the wedding car! (Funny story about the car coming up in the next recap..)
My parents and I on our way to the church….
Thanks bees for reading…more coming soon!
