@subtlebee:  One quick thought, in the time you sat here “defending” your views/time frames/ and ideal thoughts about yourself and your engagement… wouldn’t you have been better off doing a quick google search yourself?   Especially since you technically are not looking for a 100% natural perfect ruby, you just don’t want a lab created one or one that has been filled.  I just googled heat treated ruby and with one click found a ton.  Perhaps you should do it too since it might answer your own question.  Especially because you are on such a time frame; you just wasted an entire day recieving no information to help you.

I do get that you want to be engaged.  I get that there has to be this proposal before march for YOU, but put yourself in his shoes. He might have promised a febuary engagement but since he’s having such a hard time finding a ring that is “perfect” for your views, quite possible a febuary engagement might not be in the cards for you.  You might be happy for a proposal with no ring but what is his views on an engagement, MANY men are not going to propose with no ring no matter how much you say your cool with it.  He sounds like he has very traditional views and is being pushed into a corner to conform to your expectations. Even if at that moment he made a promise to do it before March to make YOU happy. He could never foresee the amount of time it would take for him to find this “perfect” gemstone.  Just saying 22 days it not a long time to find a stone, get it shipped/ bought, then having to go and pick a semimount for it, THEN get it set. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t care for you anyless or not wanting to please you, he literally just might not be able to do it.

I really am not trying to be short or be mean at all… so take it with a grain of salt if you’d like.

@Sheepshead:  Nope.  Not how I would recommend starting an engagement, or even how I would recommend treating/talking to a long-term partner.

@subtlebee:  My Fiance proposed to me early on in our relationship aswell. However I did not get a ring until 2 YEARS after he asked me. Seriously It is worth the wait. If march is a depressing month he should know not to propose during that time and wait until april. You have the rest of your lives together, you arnt racing, or competing theres really no reason to rush. Just relax, it’ll come.

@subtlebee:  I’m sure you could find something for a lower price/carat range! (p.s make sure you’re looking at it in US dollars if that’s what you use!) It’s 487.27 US dollars, but if it’s showing in ‘indian rupees’ it’s 24,500! Didn’t know if you’d gotten that mixed up or not, LOL.

@subtlebee:  I wasn’t gonna say a thing but then @Uberclaire came in with some great advice and you totally shut it down. Believe me – from someone who loves and knows quite a lot about gemstones, Pricescope is an absolute mecca. You can see a ridiculous amount of gorgeous natural stones in a variety of sizes and settings that quite frankly you will never see on Weddingbee. Additionally, there are ‘Vendor’ posters who are actual jewellers and sellers who will give you expert advice and from whom you can purchase. It would be very easy to direct your bf to this site and have him choose his specs and they do the hard part of finding some viable options in a limited timeframe.

I really don’t understand why going to Pricescope was considered to be useless advice. This thread will never really be helpful because this is a wedding forum and your approach to your proposal/marriage has rubbed some the wrong way. On Pricescope, they’ll only focus on the particulars of your stone and ring. How is that a bad thing???

So again, please give it a try (or pass it along to your BF to do the same): http://www.pricescope.com/forum/colored-stones/

I will try and get a photo of my ruby ring. It is almost a magenta color.

I think she was hoping it would happen in April, but I’m not sure. Hopefully we get an update soon, I get emotionally invested in some of the Bee’s stories and I just want to know how things turn out.
