Fake is not for me either, but I think our ability to purchase luxury items is strongly linked to our careers, privilege (e.g. College debt or not), age, and living in a high cost of living area or not. But most women still need handbags!

It also doesn’t bother me or offend me in any way when I see other women wearing CZ/moissy/etc. jewelry or carrying a handbag in a popular style.

Why not though? I’m not too heavy into the handbag thing but  I certainly have a nice collection of cz jewelry, moissys, lab gems, glass, etc… I have the real rocks too – big and small. It isn’t a question of being able to afford it. When something catches my eye and I want it, if my wallet says go, I buy it! Sometimes it happens to be cz and sterling. It isn’t that deep!

(Even Jackie Kennedy wore fake pearls!)

I too don’t see why someone would wear a hologram of jewellery. It’s so obviously fake and not real.

As for wearing simulants vs wearing the real gemstone, who cares? It’s still pretty and not everyone can afford expensive things. I don’t own a real leather purse either.

You sound like a snob.

Do you diss on “Tiffany style” rings and Kias too? They may be copycats but they are still pretty good. I’m not going to turn up my nose at a good product just because it’s not prestigious.

I don’t wear leather because I am vegetarian, however, I do enjoy finding beautiful vegan leather jackets and boots because they are better than fabric in the rain…. sue me?

Some thoughts come to my mind about your comment “If you can’t afford it, why act like you can?”:

a) some people might really like the style of an original piece, but only be able to afford an imitation. Why should they be deprived of having something they can afford? Just so that those who are more well-off are able to show off?

b) some might afford original pieces and decide not to put their money on those items for other reasons

c) when I think of famous brands, I also think of who the workforce is. I don’t see a seamstress being able to afford the very same original purse she helped making. How is that fair?

d) I honestly just see this question “if you can’t afford it…” becoming an issue to someone if he or she needs fashion statements to stand out from the crowd. People should stand out for their intrinsic values and their actions, imo.

I think it’s a way more serious issue if a person screws up his/her credit in order to get an original item they can’t afford.

Just my two cents.

Can anyone explain why it is important that you make a post to remind others that YOU can afford the real deal when others cannot?

They say money can’t buy you class. It can sure buy you a lot of diamonds and LV though, hey?

Some people can afford it but would rather invest that money into a house, car or retirement.

Are you feeling unhappy or unfulfilled emotionally or socially hence the reason for this post? People don’t sound that snobby and rude when they are at peace with their own lives.

Is it a little bit of:

I spent $20k for this and you spent $800 for that and they look the same so now I feel stupid?

I mean, why else would anyone care?

If I want to buy a pair of red bottomed heels that look just like a pair of CLs that’s my prerogative and absolutely none of your business. In fact I’d feel smarter for not spending a rediculous amount of money on ONE pair of shoes when that money could be better spent elsewhere.

Even if I had the money to spend I wouldn’t go around buying designer crap because it’s the same garbage you get at Walmart or Target with a label on it. I’m in the no one gives a flying f**k what you do with your money and you shouldn’t care about what other people do either.

OP you are the epitome of what’s wrong with the world. Go watch keeping up with the kardashians or something and leave the boards in peace, you’re just offensive to anyone with basic human morals.

Does this mean you have no costume jewelry?
