So, this weekend I finally got around to getting my caladagh ring from my mum sized. Something I had been meaning to do for years, but never seemed to get around to it. I wanted to have it sized to my right ring finger. My SO was with me at the jewellers and I had hoped that he would take note of my ring size. 😉 After picking up my newly sized ring, he turns to me and says, ” Well, it’s a good thing I haven’t bought you a ring yet, because I totally thought you were a size 6.” REALLY?!
I thought all the signs were there that he already purchased a ring and put it on layaway (I previously found a layaway slip that was not well hidden at all and also a brochure for rings in our house).
Maybe an engagement is not in my near future (although last month, he told me that he didn’t want me to wait until next year). Either he is really trying to throw me off about an engagement, or he is just being honest.
I spend waaaaay too much time thinking about this!

Based on what you’ve told us in this post, it sounds very much to me as if he’s just trying to throw you off a bit so that he is able to increase the element of surprise. If I were you, I would try to relax (much easier said than done, I know) and not think too much about this. Try to enjoy the anticipation and the surprise, whenever it arrives!

@Ms. Darko: Hahahahahahaha, that’s what I was doing at the jewelry store a few weeks ago that sparked my little tiff with SO; getting a ring from my parents that I’ve been wearing on my left hand resized for my right! How funny! And just like you I brought SO along because I hoped being around the jewelry would rouse up some interest and bring up the topic and I would find out some good news, but exactly the opposite happened.
How disappointing to hear your SO basically say that he is nowhere close to proposing, it’s really tough to swallow information like that when all along you’ve been thinking that layaway slip meant it was going to happen soon. I feel for you, and I hope that he really is just trying to throw you off. I hope the layaway slip isn’t really for a big new tv or an Xbox 360, lol!

my guess is that he’s trying to throw you off!

I’m going to agree with the other bees in that I think he’s trying to throw you off! Maybe he realized you saw the brochure or were on his trail. Either way, be happy! It’s probably closer than you think!

Yeah he’s definitely yanking your leg. 🙂 Cute though.

On the bright side, whether he’s kidding or not, you’ll get a ring that fits!!

Thanks for your feedback and support Bees! 🙂
I honestly have no idea what to think, but I am going to try not to think too much into this.
The layaway slip was definitely for a ring. I stopped myself from looking at it for more than 5 seconds, but I saw that it was from a local jeweller and the few words I caught were ’18K White Gold, custom ring’… I did not want to know more! That was in September, so… ?
