- Wedding: July 2012
July 8th…115 days…that’s all I have. Yikes!!!
Before the real planning started, we talked about a small, casual wedding on a small, casual budget. I thought it would be easy to plan but it’s turned into way more work than I had anticipated. We picked the anniversary of our first kiss as our wedding day. Awww, aren’t we cute. LOL
Logistics are killing me. We live in VA and our families live in upstate NY and that’s where we are getting married, kind of. Our ceremony is actually going to be about an hour and a half away from where we will be having the reception. We are only inviting immediate family and a handful of super close friends to the ceremony, which is being held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (the site of the Woodstock music festival). We plan on visiting the museum after the ceremony, and then make the hour and half trip back to my sisters house to finish setting up for the reception, which we are inviting extended family & friends to. I’m worried about timing this all correctly, which has kept me from ordering the invites because I don’t know what time to put on there. This wouldn’t be such a problem if we were getting married on a Saturday, but July 8th, is on a Sunday.
We still need to figure out who will be marrying us. We wanted this to be a personal and intimate ceremony so we asked a friend to become ordained so she could marry us. I thought for sure she’d say yes, but she declined because she’s super religious and she felt it wasn’t right for her to become ordained. We’ve discussed having my brother marry us and I think we’re going to ask him this weekend. I’ll feel so much better once we have this arranged.
I’m stressed about everything we will need to do once we get to NY. My mom, sister & daughter are doing a lot of the DIY stuff for me so I don’t have to try and find room to haul it all up. I’m terrible about asking for help and tend to be a bit of a control freak, so not being part of this all really is freaking me out. I need to figure out how to let that go or I’m going to be a real pain in the arse to everyone I love.
We need to decide on my Fiance attire, flowers, food and drink. I need to make my hair flower, decide on jewelry and find a seamstress in this little podunk town I live in, which is utterly terrifying. Oh, and my Fiance keeps talking about inviting more people. GAH!!!
What I do have semi-figured out is, the music, we’re going to just make a play list for the iPod and use that, just need to figure out how to play it. My daughter, who is trying to break into the photography business, will be doing our pictures. I have my dress, but need to find a reasonably priced crinoline that I can dye.
If you’re still reading this, thank you for listening to me vent.
