Has this happened to you??
I am selling a dress in the classifieds and I was approached by 2 different men about buying it. I didn’t pay much attention to that because who cares who buys it if it sells, right? But then they are asking me to do all of this extra stuff. They want me to take a cashiers check. They want me to pay a courier via western union With the “extra” money that they are gonna send. Now, as a city girl this does not sit right with me at all.
Has this happened to anyone else?? Or Really, just me??

I’ve heard of this before, total scam. Steer clear sweetie! The cashiers cheque you cash will bounce, leaving you owing the bank for the funds if you withdraw it before it clears. My bank doesn’t put a hold on my account so you might be like me. If I deposited the cheque I can withdraw the same amount instantly, then I’d be screwed. It’s crazy, you can’t trust anyone!!

@TheHotMrsG: that’s a straight up scam. i’ve heard of people doing this with all sorts of things. you pay and western union some money or something for the “shipping” and then you wait for the rest of your money…that never comes. so then you’re out of the dress, and all kinds of money.

It is a well-known scam…
Be careful when you sell stuff on-line. There are a lot of dishonest people out there trolling for innocent victims.
From what I’ve heard… PayPal is your friend… at least then you have more control over things.
Hope this helps,

its a horrible fact of life that there are assholes everywhere. in real life, and people who want to scam you when you just want to make an honest transaction.
dont trust methods like that – insist on paypal or steer clear. there are some other methods ive heard are safe but i dont know enough to recommend them
best of luck!!

I sold the dress on ebay!! I listed it and then one day it was just sold. No questions, money in my paypal. I sent the buyer a thank you message, no comment. Oh well, its gone and that is all that matters.
