So, I am in a wedding in June and I have to wear this dress:
I am a size 16, and the dress will be in champagne. Most of my weight is in my mid-section, and I keep invisioning my bulge being seen from a mile away due to the light color! I know that spanx may help, but I can’t stop thinking about how slim-fitting this dress is, and how it isn’t exactly the most flattering for a plus-sized girl.
Am I worrying about nothing?
Sorry the picture is so big, I don’t know how to make it smaller.

First off, that is a gorgeous dress! Lucky you
Second, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I would suggest some spanx and a good longline bra to really hold the tummy in and accentuate your waist. I would also get the dress a size larger and then have the top taken in…that way you will have some extra material around the midsection. That’s what I usually do with form-fitting dresses.

Will the spanx and bra bee seen because of the champagne color? Because it is only one layer, I am worried that the bra will be seen. I think I am worrying over nothing. :/

It looks like the dress is satin and that is a pretty thick material. I have a longline bra for my wedding gown and you can’t see the bra through the dress and my dress is chiffon. I think you will be fine.

do you know what fabric the dress is made of? If your longline has boning it MAY show, but there are a lot of seamless loneline bras on the market (heck, doesnt’ Spanx make some?) – they’re designed not to show. I’m not sure how they would fit for a bigger bust though (I’m flat chested – boooooo)

I already bought it, it was only $110, which isn’t that bad!

I think you should be ok. I’m bigger too, and I think that the traditional “big girl” dresses don’t do our bodies justice. I think you’ll look nice!

If you are really concerned about things being seen, can you take it a to tailor and have it made into an a-line? That way, it floats away from the midsection.

If the dress fits nicely and you have the right size, it won’t pull or bulge…and them some spanx to smooth everything over, you’ll look great!

Just make sure to get a nude colored bra and spanx – My spanx is nude, and I wore it under two bridesmaid dresses and I had no problems! AA’s fabric is usually a thick satin, so you should be fine.
