I figure I can give it a shot! Our budget says dj, but I’d really love to have a band. We’re trying to decide if we should bust the budget, or just start looking for a dj. Does anyone have an suggestions for reasonably priced bands in the area?

What is reasonably priced? We booked with Shine for 4500. I saw bands for cheaper but it also depends on the type of band you’re looking for. check out the hank agency and google bands in your area. there are more agencies besides the hank agency but i can’t remember at the moment.

Our band is boston-based, but they’ll play RI. We loved them, and they were great to work with! Guests of all generations were really impressed with them, and they keep their repertoire list VERY up-to-date with recent music, but they’re also really solid on classics. I even have some friends who work in the music industry (one helps to manage Shakira’s schedule!) who thought they were great! We continue to get compliments to them to this day.
There were a couple of tiny “errors,” but they were not a big deal: they called our pastor “Father so-and-so” when we don’t use the title “father” in my denomination, and they had the guy who caught the garter put it on the girl who caught the bouquet, which we said we didn’t want but it turned out to be fun. Seriously, those are my only issues, every other thing was impeccable, communication was timely, song choices were PERFECT. Both of those things were things we had mentioned in email but not confirmed in a meeting or telephone call, so I would recommend that you be sure to confirm things that are a big deal. I believe they were around $4k, and they were TOTALLY WORTH IT.
