Nope, I wouldn’t travel that far with that young of a baby in December. 6-7 hours in the car, you’re looking at 10 hours with the amount of stopping you would need to do. Plus risking exposing a newborn to germs during cold and flu season. Definitely wouldn’t go that early. I traveled with mine around 6 weeks but that was only a 4.5 hour car ride (=6hours) and it was in June. I am due around thanksgiving and we want to make the same trip probably, but I will be waiting until early February. Just tell them to go without you!

My dd was basically attached to my boob 90% of the day at that point. Not a fun time to be taking a vacation.

Is he serious???
HA NO. I just had my baby two months ago. I was in labor alone for 2+ days and then had a C-section. I couldn’t even get out of bed for a WEEK without excruciating pain. Plus, if your baby gets sick (especially in the winter) it could be dangerous.

independencewave : He’s being unreasonable. You’re going to be up all night, your boobs will be huge and leaking, your vagina will be bleeding and you’ll be wearing pads the size of a diaper, you could have hemorrhoids that will make sitting in a car/plane for a long time uncomfortable and you’ll have to carry a water squeegee bottle in your luggage to clean your lady bits… so ya, no way. But with all that said you’ll be in heaven because it’s the best.

No, not realistic. You’ll be lucky if you can even sit that long for the car ride…

I think you just have to make it clear that your plans are unknown for now. Maybe baby comes early, and by Christmas you have a routine down that works for you and you’re ready for the challenge. But maybe not. I think everyone just needs to be ok with deciding in the moment. You just don’t know when and how things will happen. Now, if he needs a concrete answer, I’m likely to say no, just because it’s easier to do that than the other option. Definitely don’t stress about it though! You have plenty of other more important things to worry about! 🙂
