@MUAbride2be:  That seems high in my book. I hope that includes everything! Lol. (Like setup, taxes, travel fee, special requests, etc.)

I live in Ontario and my wedding will be in an area where there ins’t much competition. I am just starting to get quotes but I received one for $775 which includes ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance reception. It also includes everything I mentionned above… My wedding is also a small one (40-60 guests).

Hope that helps!

We didn’t look into too many DJ’s – some quoted $1800-2000, which I thought was crazy- they were also offereing some high budget lighting, etc which we don’t need because our ceremony/reception are outside and it won’t even get dark til late. And I don’t exactly want my wedding to be like a club… The DJ we’re going with only charges a max of $800 – so if we use him for only the reception it’s about $675 and if we want him for the entire time (ceremony, cocktail hr, reception) it will still only be $800. He was also married at our venue and has DJ’d weddings there so I like that he is familar with everything.

That is high I think. We’re paying $900 for a 5 hour reception, no discount for the time of year.

Yikes-that seems very low to what myself and my friends are paying!! With uplighting and plasmas, cocktail hr music, + all the usual DJ stuff, I’m going to be shelling out around 3k and my good friend is paying 4k.

I’m playing about $600 for 4 1/2 hours of music (for ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour), no lighting or any extras.  This is for a wedding in the Syracuse, NY area.

I was quoted about $1900 for just reception. I’m paying $3,000 for reception+ cocktail+ the extra Viennese hour+gobo+lights+walking on the clouds. The lightS are not uplighting but the lights on the dance floor.

@MUAbride2be:  I got quoted by someone else for $600.00 for 9 hours! including ceremony.

The best you can do my dear is get more than a few quotes and compare value for services rendered. You can’t change what is available in your area, but shopping around will defeinitely help you make a comfortable decision.

I would narrow them down and interview the final few.

Also, ask yourself this. How important is it for you to have great entertainment? If the answer is very, you might not want to skimp to ensure a stress free, fun filled night 😉
