So our wedding budget was high to begin with, and now I feel like the it’s getting a little out of control. We’ve booked most everything that we need, except for flowers/decorations, hair and makeup.
I live in the Philadelphia area and my wedding will be on the NJ shore.
I’ve gone to the same hairstylist for years now. A trim costs $65, without tip. I asked him his rates for weddings, and he said he was booked on my wedding day, but that his colleague (he owns the salon) also specializes in wedding hair and is available. For her, the price would be $1000, and that includes her travel (1.5 hour drive each way), my hair, and any other hair that she can do, so 6 bridesmaids, maybe my mom and my mother in law if we have time. For 8-9 people that would be a little over $100/each. Obviously the more people, the better “deal” we get. What do you guys think? Reasonable for the region? Should I keep looking? I really have no frame of reference. I could try to find someone local on the shore, but would it be worth it to pay a premium for a salon that I trust?
And for other Philly/tri-state area Bees, how much is reasonable for makeup? My hairstylist recommended a makeup artist, and I e-mailed her to get a quote. I’m trying to brace myself for what to expect.
