$70 is going to be really, really tough unfortunately.

I just recommended Harry’s Savoy Ballroom in DE to another poster.  When I was looking I remember it being the cheapest, although I think closer to the $95 pricepoint.  It’s worth looking into.

In philly that might be a little hard to do. I moved about an hour outside of philly about two years ago to Pottstown and am getting married at meredith manor which depending on the package is reasonable. I have their delux package which is the middle one and I’m paying $80 per head. You have to buy your own alcohol though, but I don’t think that’s too bad of a deal considering the price. So far we spent about $500 just for the liquor which I thought was a steal because a few other places we were looking at, it was a separate price. I think it was $40 extra per person.

Also, you could look a little further outside of the city more. If you’re looking in the heart of philly it’s going to be hard to find your desired price per head.

In that price range,  your best bet is to look at all inclusive hotel ballrooms.   We got married in a hotel, st the Jersey Shore abd the space was beautiful.   Also,  as you don’t live nearby,  all inclusive also means less stress.

Getting married in Philadelphia proper will be hard with that price point – Philadelphia is very expensive to get married in. I had to move my wedding out into the county to find something decent under $130/pp.

I second Meredith Manor, it’s beautiful. Also, Kings Mills. Packages start at $71/pp. I went to a wedding there maybe 5 years ago and it’s great.

Someone i know is getting married at Harry’s Savoy (in DE) as well. I have also heard good things about Brigalia’s (in NJ) pricing as well.

We are getting married at Lucien’s Manor, $100 a head ($130 with taxes and gratuity) in October. If you are considering it, I would book fast. We could not get September because it was already gone when we booked over a year and six months out. The Merion is probably way over budget for you, it was for me !! But Lucien’s and the Merion are owned by the same family.

Hey! I live in a suburb of Philly, and we have been looking all over the place, and I think your price per head is definitely going to be a bit of a challenge. I am looking at a few places now that are ranging from 80-95 (including tax & service), but they are all spaced out here in the ‘burbs. Let me know if you’re interested in any more info, I definitely know a ton of venues out here from looking. I am currently deciding between a few (one in Drexel Hill, PA..one in Kennett Square, PA..and one in Wilmington, DE) and they are all about $85, and that is a budget wedding there.

**Also, be careful when looking at Philadelphia venues, many charge an additional liquor tax on top of the other tax and charges, that could add up together to almost 35% to 40% more on top of the price..always be aware of if the tax/fees are included! (A tip that I learned the hard way, after having my heart broken)

TJ2016:  The Mendenhall Inn in Kennett Square has packages and there are definitely some in that range. I haven’t been out to look yet, but I have only heard absolutely wonderful things. There are definitely going to be some country clubs that are in that budget as well (I am looking at Ed Oliver in Wilmington..) Another option you may want to look into is, the hotels by the PHL airport, they are not in the best neighborhood, but convenient for anyone coming from out of town (my favorite was the Renaissance, very fun feel) I can think of a few more places that I liked, but your guest list is larger than mine and I think most of the places only fit 150 or less. Let me know if you have any other questions, you can PM me too! I live about 20 minutes outside of the city in Delaware County, PA…so if you find any more places, and have any questions about neighborhood, if I’ve been there or have seen it.. feel free!! I love venue hunting!
