Onto the actual ceremony!! Man is this recap LONG or what??? 😛
After the intro, I was SO happy to hand those flowers off. They were HEAVY
B00kbug, I can’t honestly remember the first time we met because it was so long agto. I know it was back in high school and that I could never have imagined back then that we’d be here today getting married. After we had been dating for a while I absolutely knew you were the one for me when I came home one day to my old apartment to find an expertly illustrated, hand made card that showed a surprised looking figure labled with an arrow ‘you’ whose hand was inside the mouth of another figure labled ‘me eating your thumb. nom nom nom’. Opposite that the card said ‘love you’ and it was signed ‘your crazy girlfriend.’
I love that we never take ourselves too seriously. That we can spend lazy mornings tossing rediculous ideas back and forth. Most of the time they get dismissed as crazy, but once in a while the other person says ‘thats a great idea!’
Before we started dating I would avoid dancing at almost all costs. Now with a smile on your face, you refuse to take no for an answer. You push me to get out of my comfort zone and you support my interests like my recent obsession of experimenting with smoked meats, and I am so greatful for both. I promise to do the same for you, to let you win (most of the time), to squish creepy crawlies, to wrap our children’s presents, and to build more bookshelves for your ever growing collection.
To me marriage is devoting your life to someone else’s. Supporting them in their choices but at the same time not holding back criticism when you believe it’s in the persons best interest. There will be arguments, but nothing we can’t talk through.
In short, marriage is alot of work, but the rewards are more than worth it. I look forward to calling you wifey, to house hunting and buying our first home, to arguing over decorating choices, to starting a family and bringing up the kids to be just as crazy as we are, but most of all I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you.
There are a number of people here who can attest to how badly I threw myself at you in Denny’s that night. You had this look on your face that said you were in trouble – and you were right! Between that night and the way you said ‘so I guess this means we’re dating now, huh?’, no one can every accuse of of being a very suave couple.
And I love that. I love that when our future children ask us how we got engaged, I can tell them that I said yes…and then tackled you. I love that on our first real date, you spent an enite hike carrying my puppy who refuses to walk.
I know our married life with be filled with laughter, pancakes, and I love yous. From this day forward, I promise that I will be a good wifey to you. I will support your life’s dreams and goals. I will be a devoted mother to our children – and I will try not to loose them somewhere – both the human ones and the canine ones. And when we grow old, and get gray, and wrinkly, and crazy, I will think of how handsome you look right now, on the day we became husband and wife, and smile. M, you are my Prince Charming, my Mr Darcy, and my Indiana Jones. I will love you forever and ever, like whoa, for the rest of our lives.
Our wonderful officiant needed to take a moment since she was crying….and then asked for the rings…..and our best man didn’t have them! He fumbled in his pockets, looked in the groomsmens pockets….and thats when the jaws theme started to play and our ring bearer showed up to save the day!!!!!
Our flower girl wanted to go play with the shark….
Our shark operator who kept saying this was the highlight of his life….
The best man got the rings and we exchanged them….
We then had a handfasting ceremony….
Then we got to finally kiss!!!
Everyone clapped and cheered, even the little flower girl!!
We were Mr and Mrs!! Giggly and happy, we made our way back up the isle as everyone waved their ribbon wands!!
and then everyone else!!!
there is drama behind this shot that will be explained outside of the recaps….whoooboy
this shot makes me giggle just because my poor dad is still a crying mess but he’s carrying a festive ribbon wand!!
And now it was time to party!!!!
