- Wedding: May 2013 - Kempinski San Lawrenz, Gozo
Darling Husband and I tied the knot on 4.5.2013 (star wars day!) on a windy spring day in Malta. It was a beautiful event, and I’m SO glad we went with what we wanted, rather than having a stiff formal event, as is customary here. It resulted in a fun, intimate and happy evening!
I’ve been meaning to do this recap for several months…but to be honest, I was SO over wedding planning, that I just couldn’t stomach anything wedding-related after 3 years of planning that I just had to take a break from WB. 🙂
I DIY’d most of the entire wedding…I managed to finish everything without too much stress, but only because I planned ahead and gave myself room for “f*ck-it days”, of which there were quite a few! I was happy that I could use lots of ideas which are pretty much cliche in other countries (like the fingerprint tree), because Malta is still way behind, lol…so most of the little details I added were a new thing to our guests, and there were loads of oohs and ahhhs. yay!
Like I said, there were a couple of problems. Mainly, the florist. As you can see, there are no pics of the table arrangements. That’s because our florist did such a shitty job at decorating the tables. I had been contemplating DIY’ing the flowers to until I caved and hired what was supposed to be a great florist….. I gave the guy a 9-page document, including fabric swatches specifying exactly what we wanted and didn’t want (I know, sounds kinda bridezilla-ey of me), he agreed to everything, then left half the stuff out! Probably what annoyed me most was that our colours were light blue and lilac…and there were no blue flowers at all…even though we agreed on having big bunches of blue hydrangeas. wtf dude. not cool. 🙁
please excuse me for that little rant. Little problems aside, it was the most amazing night of my life. I’d never seen Darling Husband with such a big grin on his face, and when I look at the pics I can see that everyone had SO much fun! 😀
Here you go!
