Ever since I was a little girl and even before, Gatlinburg has always been very special to my family. To me, it is honestly the happiest place on earth. Every time I go, I’m struck with no matter how much my life changes, that place remains basically the same.
As soon as Darling Husband proposed, my first thought was Gatlinburg but I didn’t want to leave so many people I loved out so we changed to a wedding where we lived. This made us MISERABLE! If I was going to invite this aunt and uncle, I had to invite this one, even if I didn’t want to. So, we went back to the Gatlinburg idea with the condition from Darling Husband that I only invited my best friend and my mom and my brother. Through some other circumstances, my mom and brother couldn’t make it which overshadowed my excitement until we got there. So in the end, my best friend, her fiance and my god daughter were there which worked out really well because of course she and I get along great and her fiance and Darling Husband have become good friends.
I really wanted to get married outside, but it rained all day before, the day of, and the day after our wedding. Hey, Darling Husband and I will get lots of good luck right?
Even with all the mishaps and disappointments surrounding the wedding, it was the happiest day of my life. I’m so glad that at the end of the day, this man is my husband.
I don’t have pro pics yet, but I will post them when I do. For now, some non pro pics my best friend and I (both hobby-photographers) took around our beautiful cabin!
I’ll start with just some of the details: here are some pics of the centerpiece I made. The cabin has our last name on the roof, so that is why it is painted over.
Here’s the Mr. and Mrs. signs I made. In the trip, some of the glitter got scraped off but we still used them! I’m going to touch them up and put them over a photo wall I’m going to do of our wedding pics
This was our cake. It’s very traditional, but I really thought it was beautiful. It’s delicious too! When we got home, we split it between our moms.
Here’s us cutting the cake. As you can see, we used a very nontraditional knife to cut it. Darling Husband got so excited about cutting the cake with it, I just couldn’t say no
Here’s him feeding me some of the cake.
Here’s him finding my garter! I had a very big dress and it was a lot of fun for him to find it. I refused to tell him which leg I put it on! lol
And here’s some pictures of us on the balcony of our cabin! We had some awesome views!
This is probably my favorite picture out of all of them, including the professional ones.
This Saturday, we get to go to a bbq to celebrate the wedding with the only family members that I cared about being part of my big day! We are going to bring all of the pics and show them and tell them all about our trip. It’s going to be a great day. When we told them about our plans, they were all so supportive and said that they completely understood why we were doing it the way we did. His family was the same way. Unfortunately, some of my other family members aren’t supportive, but we expected that. They wouldn’t have been even if we did have the big wedding.
