Here are mine

Today is the happiest day of my life. I get to marry my best friend. You are my true love, you are everything I could have ever wanted and everything I never knew to ask for. I vow to be at your side at every turn and down every road our life together takes us . I vow to be your best friend, your wife and the best mother to our children. To be at your side in richness and prosperity, health and happiness and in all other times. To love and support you through all your endeavors. To always take time to walk the dogs with you, to hold your hand while shopping and to be your extra set of hands in the kitchen. On our wedding day, I vow to be everything a good wife is and all that a wife should be to you. To be the Barbie to your Ken and always the Minnie to your Mickey.

i’ll share ours!

Here are Mr. Unicorn’s:

Dear PurpleUnicorn, my love, my friend, my sweety.  I love you so very much.

Our adventure started some time ago and when I look back at our time together, I am reminded of just how much we are meant to be together.  In fact, we are so good together that we are willing to die for one another. From the moose in Maine to the treacherous mountains of Colorado, nothing can stand between us.

When I consider the probability of finding someone as wonderful and as unique as you, I can only conclude that you are a miracle; even if we did meet in a statistics class. You are beautiful, smart, kind, ambitious, dedicated, patient, and understanding. You will be a wonderful wife, and some day, a great mother. I am very lucky to have you in my life.

As we continue our wonderful journey together I vow to love you and be there in good times and bad times. I pledge to be loyal and faithful and promise to protect, care and listen to you.  I look forward to growing old with you.

And here are mine:

Mr. Unicorn,

Today is the happiest day of my life because I get to marry you. You are not only the man I love, but you are my best friend.  The best decision I ever made was letting you into my heart. Sometimes I think I must have dreamt you into existence, because you are everything I ever wanted in a husband.

These past five years, you have made my life better in so many ways. You take care of me without me having to ask, you support me in everything I do, you help me stay grounded when I feel I am going crazy, and of course, you cook the most amazing dinners!

With you in my life, I feel safe and secure. I feel loved and appreciated. I feel like no matter where we go or what we do, I know I will be happy because I will have you by my side.

I am so excited today and proud to become your wife. As your wife, I promise to support you, I promise to be faithful and loyal, I promise to learn how to cook, I promise to be a good mother to our future children, and finally, I promise to love you unconditionally throughout the good and the bad not only for the rest of our lives, but for the rest of eternity, because I believe you are my soul mate.

This may be a silly question, but can vows be repeated from the officiant?, or should they be read from paper or memorized?

@pengoala: I guess Im just confused between the I Dos (just say I DO), Vows (Read, Memorised or Repeated), and then the Ring Exchange (Repated). Thank you!

Our vows followed a format. We wrote them separately but included the same closing paragraph in what we said. I’ll share the format, without the actual love reasons.

I love you because (serious).

I love you because (funny).

I love you because (sincere/awww).

I love you because (anything at all, any feeling).

I love you because (a few little reasons that are heartfelt).

<name>, because I love you, I promise to treat you the way you want to be treated and with the respect you deserve. I promise to build trust with my words and actions. I will be your cheerleader, your nurse, your editor, your therapist, your teacher, your student, and your partner in adventure. I will deeply appreciate all of your positive qualities and not let the passage of time dull that appreciation. When life challenges us, I promise to focus on the resiliency of our love and remind myself of the challenges we have gotten through already. And if I stumble and fail to live up to my promises, I will look you in the eyes, hold your hands, and apologize with sincerity. I will be my best for you.

Following that, we exchanged “I Do”s and repeated the same ring exchange lines that went like this:

Officiant: Now it is time to declare your commitment to one another. Please listen carefully and answer from your heart:

Officiant: <name>, in the presence of these witnesses, do you pledge to turn to <wife/husband> in your need and always support and console him/her in return?
Me or Him: Yes.
Officiant:Do you pledge to be honest and respect him/her?
Me or Him: Yes.
Officiant: Do you pledge to trust <name> as you and your love evolve?
Me or Him: Yes.
Officiant: Do you pledge to honor and cherish him/her while in turn giving him/her space to maintain a sense of independence?
Me or Him: Yes.
Officiant: Do you pledge to generously share your joy, passion, and laughter with him/her forever?
Me or Him: Yes.

Officiant: <name>, will you please state your intentions?

Me or Him: You are my true love and my friend. This ring is a symbol of my love for you and my commitment to our marriage. I choose you as my husband/wife. Do you take me as your wife/husband?
The other: I do.
