- Wedding: December 2009
I looked at this board a fair amount for planning so figured I’d share my vendors/experiences:
Dress: White Chicago (3 1/2)
Sample dresses; priced a little higher than I expected, and you have to choose what dresses to try on, but I found my gown here and loved it.
Bridesmaid and flower girl dresses: JCrew (3 1/2)
The dresses were good quality and arrived quickly (within 2 weeks), which was helpful as one person needed a new size. Was able to use 20% off for some dresses which helped. Full prices are a little high.
Accessories: Blue nile (4)
Great for silver jewelry. Got my wedding necklace, earrings, and bridesmaids gifts there.
Veil: Simply beauty on etsy (3 1/2).
Very affordable, simple, held up well. Good if you’re more of a ‘dress’ girl than a veil girl.
Alterations: Ms Coutre (3 1/2)
She does a great job on alterations. She’s direct and honest, but may rub some folks the wrong way. May want to see if she will bring down her original quote (I didn’t).
Shoes: 6pm.com (4)
Found some great shoes by Camper that were really comfortable for reasonable. Not the standard wedding shoe site.
Hair: Brides By Kelly (4)
Awesome job on the hair, reasonable rates. She’s friendly. Books up relatively quickly, but since it was December I was able to get her added last minute.
Photographer: Andrew Gill (4)
Took lots of shots but barley noticed he was there, was very calm, friendly, and not pushy. Matched very well with our style/personalities. Great rates and would definately recommend!
DJ: Style Matters (3 1/2)
Played good music for the crowd. We were a little late in getting in our song list, so one or two minor items were more because of that. Personable DJs.
Venue: Doubletree O’Hare/Rosemont (4)
Was a great location since it was 15-20 minutes from our church. The food & cake was very good, and it’s a nice sized room if you’re having between 120-160 people (we had about 140). The lobby/cocktail hour area is also nice for taking pictures with your bridal party. The coordinator was responsive and I’d recommend the venue. Only drawback is the room they gave us (for free) is pretty similar to all the other hotel rooms.
Rehearsal Dinner: Graziano’s (4)
Worked perfectly for us (about 25 people in the rehearsal dinner). Lots of food, and good food.
Flowers: Accents By Jenny (4)
Jenny did an awesome job on the flowers. I had a good idea of what I wanted but she executed it very well. Reasonable rates (I picked in-season flowers which helped). We weren’t sure if we needed to move the flowers from church to venue but I forgot to ask.
Ring (groom): e-weddingbands.com (3 1/2)
Good for simple bands.
Men’s Warehouse (4)
Did a good job on tuxes, and called everyone to remind them to pick up everything.
