That is weird! Can you call BB&B and ask?

Can I ask roughly how expensive the gift is…just because that might affect people’s opinions. You could enquirer through the store they may have more information if you are worried it was done as a mistake. Two senarios come to mind though. A) You really do know this person in a “great aunt on your father’s side” kind of way in which case if you enquire that person might be hurt that they gave you a gift and you don’t remember them. Though I find it weird that there was no note in that case. Or B, I’m not sure how registrys work at BBandB, but is it possible that this person meant to give a gift to Missjoy A (their coworker or something) but accidentally clicked Missjoy0819 from the search and bought off of your registry without noticing. If the gift is expensive I would call the store and follow up just because that person may have been looking forward to giving that only to find out when no thank you card comes that it was never received by the other person. I hope if you do give it back that someone else buys it for you though.

One time I bought a set of oxo pop containers (for a good discount) from eBay and they shipped directly from Kohl’s. The box was clearly shipped from Kohl’s and the packing slip had an employee discount on it. I assumed an employee was selling discounted items on eBay. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Or someone could have intentionally sent the gift anonymously,  and they substituted the name of the sales person? I’d call the store to see if they can shed some light. Or spread the word to close friends and family to see if anyone knows.

missjoy0819 :  It sounds like an error to me. My best guess is that someone went to a BB&B retail location to buy a gift from your registry and chose to have it shipped to you, rather than just buying it online through your registry? I’m guessing when people do that, there is probably a box where the cashier is supposed to enter the gifter’s name, but accidentally entered their own.

I would call BB&B to try and get some info, because I would feel badly not being able to acknowledge and thank whoever gave it to you. Hopefully they paid with a credit card & BB&B can track them down. If not the retail location they purchased at might at least give you a clue.

The other thing I’d wonder about is if you have any relatives who are older and not necessarily computer savvy who might have gotten help from an employee at BBB and they paid but the employee had to go onto your registry to place the order. I work for an online company and a lot of our customers are older and need quite a bit of hand holding when doing orders and other tech related things so that was the first thing that came to mind.

missjoy0819 :  This happened to me. It was from Amazon and it was a third party seller. They never put the person who bought the gift on the paperwork.  No one in the family knew who the hell this person was. Finally, my friend asked me if I recieved her gift. I said, which one? She said the cassarole dish..I thought oh from Sammy Smith..yeah. Your name wasnt on it so I had no idea who gave it to me.

So I’m wondering if it is a smilar sistuation.

I would ask around and see which one of your guests sent it…cause I’m guessing they probably did and the paperwork didn’t get put in with it. Or you can call BBBeyond.
