Hi bee’s! I need some guidance from those of you have experience with an efficient receiving line. We will be having our ceremony at a church and the reception a couple miles away at a separate location. I am having around 110 guests. My hope is to take all of my pictures before the ceremony with the exception of a quick 20 min session at the beach (just a few min away) after the ceremony. SO…here is what I am thinking. I was going to do a receiving line at the church before the reception to make sure that I am able to thank everyone for coming, as well as those great additional photo shots. Then we will be leaving in a classic car. I would like the receiving line to move quickly and to have the guests there to wave goodbye to us as we leave. How do I communicate that with the guests? Do you have any ideas to make the receiving line move quickly and work well? I appreciate all the advice that I get! Thanks!

We had 110 guests as well and did a receiving line! Since your bridal party is exiting before guests I would have them “catch” the guests that are coming out of the line and exiting the building to let them know that you’ll be making an exit and have them wait around. As for moving the line efficiently we had our parents in the line and we just gave the person a hug and thanked them and moved them on. For those that were difficult to move along we introduced them to our parents and our parents greeted them and moved them along for us. 🙂

smg5281: +1. Sounds like a good idea!
Jules725: We’re having 110 and receiving line out of the church too. 🙂 I would have just you and your new husband or you two and parents in the line to help it move along. No bridal party members and make sure the bridal party/family or friends can mention to them that there will be a ‘send off’. You can also have the minister make an announcement at the end that there will be a send off… or write it in the program if you’re having one.
