So what have you ladies bought so far (recently) for your baby?
I went yesterday to Walmart and got my diaper bag. It’s green and polka dot and I am in love with it. It looks like a regular purse so that is super nice and it’s pretty roomy.
Today I got a frame for the baby’s ultrasound pic that I added his name to and hung on the wall in his nursery. I also got another frame that will go in our room for a pic of baby once he gets here. I bought the baby on board car sign (dh doesn’t want to use it LOL) and a laundry hamper. I wanted a green hamper to go with all the accents but they didn’t have one so I got baby blue instead…it’ll do for now. And I got a ceramic holder that I am not sure what I’ll use for yet..but it is so pretty and green and I might just use it to store a few smaller items.
We’re buying all the bigger items for baby ourselves and already got a few of those. I want to wait to buy things like baby soap, shampoo, diapers, wipes, cream, etc until AFTER the baby “shower”… which mil just told me to pick a date so she can start planning it.
So what did you get?

I haven’t purchased much either. Just a nursing pillow and nursing cover really. And picked up some baby clothes at a garage sale 🙂

We are due in August and had almost nothing!! I had a mild panic attack when KK had her baby and I realized this little bugger may come early. We do have a carseat(I use it for my nephew. Its a Britax that goes from 5lbs rear facing to 60lbs forward facing) that I bought when my sister had her 2nd baby. DH said we have a bed, blankets and your boobs. We are ok! He did make me feel better. 🙂
But since than I did go out and buy 1/2 dozen cloth diapers. Just having them makes me feel more prepared. And I did kick our butts into gear into refinishing the hand me down glider. It will be done, new cushions and new paint, this week!

I had a $25 credit for this site so I bought this Diaper and Wipe Dispenser. It was free shipping so I ended up paying only $15 for it.
Here’s the link for the baby & kids section of the site: http://www.vau.lt/shop/baby-kids

We finally bought his nursery furniture, fabric for curtains, and a high chair. All we really have left is extra crib sheets…and him!

@mysticgrace: ooh I like that! totally superflous, but totally useful and fun.
I have some gift cards that I havent spent yet. I think Ill wait to see what I dont get at the shower.
The only thing I bought so far was an old glider. I refinished it, but still need to pick fabric and reupholster it. I think Ill order/shop for fabric today or tomorrow.
@bridalprincess: regardint the baby on board sign. I always wanted to know the point of these. Whenever I see them I think “Oh OK, I wont get in an accident with you because you have a baby on board since I was planning on rearending you”
@baletrina: Your Darling Husband is cute.. and he does have a point! The basics are covered.

We’re due in October and both Darling Husband and I are type-A control freaks. In other words, we know what we like and we know that the best way to get exactly what you want is to get it yourself (vs. waiting for others at a shower). So we’ve tackled a ton of stuff on our list already and since we’ve been squirreling everything away, we’ve managed to get quite a bit on sale too (e.g. Amazon, Carter’s).
As far as recent purchases are concerned, the most notable ones would be:
– Stokke Tripp Trapp
– 4Mom Breeze Playard/Bassinet
And my parents are getting me the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 this coming weekend when they come into town.

@ThreeMeers: I know LOL. I never had one but always wanted one because I think they are so cute… like “aww, they have a baby” type thing. But dh will not put it in his car LOL. I’ll wait to put it in the minivan once we get it. Oh and it was so cheap too, less than $1 so I just picked it up.
We still have a lot to get and I only have 2 months to go… but it’s so much fun shopping.

@mysticgrace: That is super cute. I am looking for a diaper stacker… I might even try and make one or ask my mil to make it for me. I just need a place to store more than like, 4 diapers at once.

@baletrina: I am due end of August/very early September, but i had a mini freak out too not too long ago when we had nothing. We didn’t start shopping for baby until i think, May. And so far all we have is the…
Bath tub (we got 2 hooded towels and a ton of washcloths from dh’s cousin)
Bouncy seat (the very first thing we bought but we bought it the same day as the tub)
A teether toy (I just thought it was cute and it was so cheap)
The pack and play (with bassinet and changing station) and high chair (we have to pick them up at the store).
We still need to order the travel system (which is most definitely next) and a few other bigger things. And we have to get ALL the smaller items too (diapers, wipes, baby care things, ect….)
Thankfully i don’t have to buy any clothes (or shoes)… I got a bunch from mil and dh’s cousin and baby’s hamper is full with clothes I had stored that need washing. So not buying any clothes yet for baby. I plan to breastfeed but I even have bottles and liners (from said cousin). Your dh is so right though… we do have blankets and my boob… we’ll be OK.

@ThreeMeers: I was told the baby on board sign was originally for emergency personnel, not necessarily other drivers. I think it was something along the effects that paramedics know to keep an eye out for babies if you get into an accident. That said, most people who buy it are probably assuming that other drivers will somehow be more attentive/safe around them.

So far I’ve received a used crib from a coworker and a crib bedding set from other coworkers. I’ve bought the car seat, stroller, a rocker/glider, the pack n play, cloth diapers, a small amount of clothing, 2 bottles (I got an additional 2 for free), and a diaper bag. I also got the hypnobabies course. I think another set of coworkers will get me a sling, but if they don’t I will get it myself. After that not sure I need much else. Probably a pack of disposable diapers, wipes, diaper cream (though I have a few samples), a few more clothes, some swaddling blankets, and some burp clothes and/or bibs. I think that’s about it.

@ThreeMeers: LOL yeah, if it weren’t for the credit I already had, I wouldn’t have bought it! After my first baby, I realize how much stuff I didn’t actually need a few weeks in but this one, I think will still be pretty useful.
@bridalprincess: This one definitely looks like it holds a lot of diapers. I don’t have any right now though so I can’t tell how many for sure. It has great reviews on Amazon which was a pretty big factor in my decision to get it.
With my first child, I also got one of those Baby on Board signs and my friends teased saying they didn’t even know they still made those. I took it off after a few weeks since it really didn’t seem to hinder ones that are just set on tailgating you.
