I think your ring is beautiful! But I understand because I’m also a no-frills person myself. My e-ring is a simple solitaire. When I was engaged I was a grad student and I didn’t wear my ring on the days I worked in the lab because it was too much of a hassle with gloves and washing my hands a lot. It was no big deal and everyone knew I was still engaged. I didn’t feel right getting a stand-in that wasn’t my e-ring. Now that I’m married and have a messy toddler, 95% of the time I just wear my wedding band, which is plain gold with no stones.

Could you talk to your Fiance about exchanging for a different ring? If you feel like this ring doesn’t suit your style or personality, I’m sure he would want you to have something that you would want to wear all the time.

My aunt has a band with diamonds as her engagement ring and a plain band as her wedding band. Very pretty and simple

I am a stay at home mom, so I get this…  I wear a band or nothing a lot of the time at home.  But I also love having a big rock on my finger!!!  So I wear my ering as much as I can, because I really do love it.

Just wear the beautiful ring – and wear it all the time.  Get as much pleasure as you can from it.  That’s what it is for.  Stop agonising and just enjoy being engaged.

Or quickly ask your Fiance to exchange it for something more modest and use the extra money for an extra special honeymoon or something equally romantic.

If you simply don’t wear it don’t assume your Fiance / future husband won’t notice.  He’ll be hurt so you need to make a decision fast.

I have a band style engagement ring.  For my wedding band, we added a 1mm jacket.  My stones are channel set, so they don’t snag on anything.

Getting a simpler ring sounds like a very practical idea for your lifestyle. Your engagement ring is gorgeous, so maybe you could wear it when you go out on dates with your fiancé or when you’re not working. Have you spoken to your fiancé about it? I think if you have the $ why not? One of my friends had a band instead of your classic ring and it works perfect for her.

I completely understand! Being an active girl that never wore rings, I always thought I would go for a diamond band as an engagement ring and a thin, plain band for my wedding ring.  Before my husband proposed, he asked me what type of ring I would like and I considered many of the wedding bands from Brilliant Earth…However, after I found out he had spent three months designing an engagement ring, I happily accepted the “rock” and picked one of the bands below as my wedding band.  I’ve uploaded a couple of the rings I considered.  I hope the research for my own engagement band can be of some help to you!

csutter1:  First of all, congratulations on your engagement!

I am doing exactly what you’re talking about! I work in science, so I am putting on and taking off gloves all day, I don’t normally wear much jewelry, and have simple tastes. We had a custom band designed for me that I have been wearing as my engagement ring. After we get married (next month!) I will continue to wear it as my wedding ring. I only wanted one ring, so this is perfect for me. I wear it every day, and it never gets in my way. I have friends at work who don’t wear their e-rings b/c they catch on gloves, so I’m happy I got something that fits my style and my lifestyle.

I love looking at all the beautiful rings out there – but personally, I am not one to wear much jewelry. I don’t feel comfortable with it on… I am recently engaged and my engagement ring is actually a wedding/anniversary band. It has round diamonds in a channel set band and I love it! Simple, yet still has diamonds. I am leaning towards a plain band for my wedding band… simple but classy, imo.

Does anyone have a photo of their band e-ring with a wedding band? I think if I get a band for my e-ring (probably half-eternity) I’d like a second wedding band (probably without stones). Has anyone done this and do you have pictures?

I can take a photo (I just got a new lap top so absolutely nada saved on here) but I have a tanzanite ring I wear sometimes in place of my engagement band. More often, I wear just my wedding band. My ring isn’t huge (1.5 carats) but there are situations in which I feel uncomfortable wearing it so I do just wedding band or tanzanite + wedding band. I almost always have something on that hand (one exception in the last year was during a hospitalization).
