Hey everyone, I’ve been a long time lurker and finally made an account after I got engaged last week!! I LOVE everything about my ring, but the band is a little thicker than most, so was hoping for suggestions on what wedding bands would look good with it.
I do have longer fingers, and quite a bit of space between my knuckle and my hand so I have room to work with.
Would a diamond band like the picture below be overkill? Should the band widths of the engagement ring and wedding ring match?
Thanks for all of your help 🙂
This is my ring (the band is platinum, although the lighting makes it look a little gold):

lovely ring. That would make a great set. You may want to check you’re comfortable with a band like that and the prongs don’t rub you. If it’s comfortable I think it’s a great look. or you can go plain wedding band (classic and practical) and get diamond bands to add later as eternity gifts etc.

That band is pretty, but I’d go with smaller diamonds if that’s the look you want. In that set, I think the size of the band diamonds detracts from the solitaire (and yours is a stunner!).

First of, congrats! That’s a beautiful ring. I agree with kooshball5:
, smaller diamonds on the band so they don’t detract from your gorg solitaire.

Congratulations!!! Agree with PP on smaller diamonds on the wedding band to showcase your gorgeous solitaire.

Beautiful ring! I would go with a diamond band with a width that is closer to the width of your ering or maybe even a little thinner. More comfortable and it will accentuate your gorgeous solitaire instead of competing with it.

thanks everyone!! Pretty clear what the majority opinion is on this 🙂
Another question: do people usually have the stones going all the way around, or just halfway, etc?

Congratulations! I think that wedding band is beautiful and compliments the ring very well. I also agree with everyone’s suggestions to go with smaller diamonds in the band to keep the rings from competing. Also, if you find your ring spins a lot you can do stones all the way around. I prefer hallway around though (just so the top is covered) because I’d be afraid of scratching, damage, etc. Good luck and congratulationgs again!

Beautiful! It’s a very similar set to the ideas I have for mine. I would definitely not
get a wedding band with diamonds all around. They are unable to be resized, diamonds frequently are damaged/fall out and they will frequently snag whatever it is that you’re wearing (i.e. lace, tights, delicates, etc…).
As others already mentioned, I agree with kooshball5
as you don’t want the size of the diamonds to over power your engagment ring.
I have a 1.5 carat center stone and found that 1/2 wedding band was a flattering pair. The patiruclar ring I liked had 7 stones rather than just 5 (which was common at the particular store we were at). But, it looks like I have a bigger finger than what you do (I’m a 7). So, you may not even need 7 stones which could save you $$ in the long run! I have a platinum setting as well so I understand how pricey things can get REALLY fast 🙂

They also have bands with diamonds that cover 3/4 of a band. Congratulations!!!

Congrats bee, your ring is gorgeous! I have a thicker solitaire setting as well, it tapers from 2mm under my finger to about 4mm at the crown. I tried on a few different sized bands when Fiance and I were wedding band shopping. We ended up deciding on on a 3mm band, with 9 stones. I’ll also include a pic of the 5 stone band that was between 3.5-4mm. Both wedding bands are just models with CZ, I can’t wait to see the finished product – the jeweler just emailed me that our wedding bands are in 😀

Definitely try on a ton of bands. You might find that you don’t like the proportions of larger stones because they detract attention from the center or you might find that you want to go even thicker to give the wedding band more presence. It’s all about finding the right proportions.
Also try on eternities and 1/2, 3/4, 7-stones, etc. I love the idea of an eternity but the ones I’ve tried on were all so uncomfortable to me and they just didn’t look good because of how much they stuck out on the sides. Don’t know if it’s the shape of my fingers or what but I just can’t do it.
