We have our elopement planned, very sweet, romantic and just the two of us. Now we are having a new years eve reception for a group of friends. We are planning to do an after party and are having the reception be formal/glam. The guys are wearing black velvet tuxedo jackets, girls are in these rose colored sequin dresses but I cant decide on mine.
Should I do something like this backless black sequin dress, most likely in ivory with much less sequin or more lace and sheer like the second one, with a less dramatic slit or no slit?

LOVE this idea! I think either one will work (it depends on if you want sexy glamour or more of a red carpet bridal). BUT the first one sounds perfect for a NYE party!
The first one that you described reminds me of the Casablanca 1975, which another Bee is wearing and she looks a-MAH-zing.
If you go with the second style, I say YES for the slit because the silhouette is a lot more conservative/modest than the first. Maybe the slit can be a little more to the side, though? Really, I like it either way.

I vote for the second one, because I think it’s a bit more different than the rose dresses. But they’re both gorgeous!

@MlleFabuleux: I showed the one with the second you posted to my Fiance, we both loved the bottom but werent crazy about the top. Its getting hard to find something I like that I dont have to custom made and imagine every aspect of it.

All are gorgeous! I love open back, so my vote is for the black style (in ivory).

@minted: That’s the frustrating part, isn’t it? If you do find a dress with a slit that you love, you might also consider wearing a cowl neck bolero backwards to get that look Jessica Biel has (without having to alter it like crazy).
I also found a couple more gowns you might like:
Anne Bowen Spring 2013
Pronovias Spring 2012 ($6,500)
Ines di Santo Spring 2012 ($5,200)
