Your fine.  Many receptions have been in restaurants. 

Have you asked the restaurant about dancing?  They might have a solution.  (ie moving tables after dinner.) But if it’s not that important to you or too expensive, don’t even worry about it.  I think by having a more intimate wedding, and having it at a restaurant, your guests will not expect it to follow the same traditional wedding format.  (And from my experience, if you only have 40 people, you never know that enough people attending will even be up for dancing.)

I agree w/ Tanya123 about the dancing issue. If our wedding was a little bit smaller, I definitely would have gone this route!
