Just wanted to run this menu by you ladies and get some honest feedback. First of all we are from Georgia and we traditionally do buffet style receptions with no assigned seating. Usually there are more guests than seats available. People eat finger foods as the mingle…eat, drink, and be merry! We are expecting over 250 guests. We have been discussing the menu with the caterer and this is what we have come up with. What do you think?
There will be 3 stations:
Carving Station with Steamship Round of Beef, served with bread and condiments
Mashed Potato Bar with bacon, cheese, chives, sour cream and butter
Shrimp & Grits Station (it’s a southern thing)
On the buffet:
Fried chicken tenders with honey mustard sauce
Hot parmesan spinach-artichoke dip with tortilla chips
Jalapeno cheese poppers with salsa
Salmon Mousse Canapes
Sesame Chicken Bites
Iced Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce
Fresh vegetable trays with dip
Seasonal Fruit trays
Assorted cheese trays with crackers
Iced Sweet Tea
Beer (Michelob Ultra & Bud Light)
Wine (Merlot, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay)

yummy, though I would add another meat to the carving station, like roast turkey or pork.
Enjoy and good luck!

Menu sounds great, I would definitely need to sit down to eat it though. Any concern that folks will linger at the tables after they are done eating, and there will be people with a full plate who have to try to eat standing up?

I feel like its really heavy on meat/protein and carbs with few veggies. Unless there is also a salad or something?
Other than that, everything sounds delicious.

@kerensa: I agree, looks great would added some rice, maybe some collard greens, salad, some starchs maybe mac & cheese (the greens and mac for the southern theme). But, would def. enjoy your menu 🙂
