I’m having trouble wording my reception card. Due to my budget restraints we could only have beer and wine throughout the entire event. I wouldnt want to call it a cocktail hour, but for the first hour there will be just drinks and then a buffet dinner around 5:30. Since it will be a very intimate wedding we decided to play the dancing by ear so the dancing is not official. What suggestions would you give me for the wording of the reception card?

“Reception immediately following ceremony”…or anything similar to that.
I don’t think you need to mention alcohol or dancing.

Agree 100% with @CoffeeandCream: there is no need to give further details (infact mentioning money in any way shape or form… ie Cash Bar… would be considered rude).
Trust me, your Guests will figure it all out on their own.
If you have a Wedding Website you could go into more detail there (give a tentative schedule of events)… BUT really it isn’t necessary. You are the Host, the Guests will naturally “go with the flow”

I am in the same situation as you and only offering beer and wine. I am keeping my reception card extremely simple with:
Please join us after the ceremony for dinner, drinks and dancing.
<Venu address and time>
Like the poster said above me, guests figure out on their own whats being offered etc and just beer and wine is pretty standard.
