I don’t think you have to match your reception colours to those of your outfit.  I have seen weddings where they match and where they don’t.  I prefer not matching with my decor because I want my outfit to stand out …. not blend in with the decor.  Our stage will have a large backdrop and the colours are chocolate brown, deep red and creams and gold.  My outfit is a dusty rose (pinkish) colour.

But at the end, it’s your choice….good luck!

I’m not matching at all. My reception colors are going to be orange, pink, and navy blue and originally I was looking for a navy blue lengha.  However I fell in love with a pale green and red lengha for the wedding and I don’t care that I’m not matching! The way I see it is that I should stand out from the decor – not match the room!

I don’t think you have to totally match.  I don’t like all matchy matchy either and you should stand out as the bride.  But if you go with something like baby pink and silver and it draws the pink form your pink/purple outfit, that would probably be jsut enough.  Create a subtle balance.

I agree with Orangey! However it’s your choice, do you want to blend or pop? we are Indian and enjoy a plethora of colours!! My lehnga is emerald/jade green and silver but I’m thinking of doing purple backdrop & centerpieces…linens will be ivory/white
