I think we just hit our first bump in the road for my son’s mini destination wedding this July. After calling numerous times the past few weeks and getting no answer, we finally found out that the woman we signed the contract with last June quit. The wedding is in a large tent at a beach side golf course in California about 4 hours from everyone invited. They have hired a new woman, but she has zero experience with this facility. We found out that they collapse the tent during the winter and there are only 2 weddings booked there for this year, so I know she hasn’t run a wedding there yet. Every time we try to call, we are told to call back at a certain time and day to talk to the new woman and then she is not there. The golf course restaurant provides the catering so I’m not too worried about that part, but I worry about who is going to be in charge of the staff, the schedule, and coordinating with the other vendors. We have a personal friend who is going to be our DOC and her husband is the officiant, but I was hoping she would only have to orchestrate the ceremony, not the reception too! Has this happened to anyone else out there? How did things turn out?
