- Wedding: May 2011
Okay, FH and I are discussing dinner. We used to do catering, and with paying for the wedding ourselves, we’ve decided to cook our own food and hire a couple of people to make sure everything gets out. SO… We know we are doing Chicken Piccata – we love it and it can be made ahead of time; and stuffed salmon – also love it, and it just has to be put on a pan. We want a third option, but not sure what. I’ve read on another poll how many people like beef. And because of that, it is not an option 🙁 we can’t afford it, plus to do steaks is not easy when you’re the bride and groom. We were trying to decide if we should do a vegetarian dish, a pasta dish, or some kind of pasta with a meat sauce. Another option would be to just skip the third food option.
Also, if anyone has any tips on how to work a mashed potato bar into a sit down dinner, that would be great! I don’t want to do buffet, because people tend to want to try everything and take a lot more than they can eat. I learned this at my first catered event! eek! and then everyone complains that there isn’t enough of something – such as the majority of response cards said chicken and everyone complained that there wasn’t enough beef. Anyway, I don’t want the headache of a buffet, but I do want the mashed potato bar, so tips would be great! (Potatoes would be served in a martini glass, so it’s a matter of when do they get their potatoes? …and how? etc…)
