I never thought of having two dresses until I actually had to walk around the tailor’s in my dress. It’s heavy! Now I am considering wearing a different dress to the party half of the reception, something in the $100 range. Anyone else have a seperate reception dress, either a party dress or a different gown? Inspiration is needed!

@CountryRose: Sigh…my dress is heavy too and I kind of want a reception dress, but I don’t think I can fit one in our budget. I really love my dress and want to wear it all night, but dang is it heavy!

@CountryRose: I will be wearing a reception dress however, I will not show you because it might make you afraid of the reception dress hah! I picked a dress that was easier to dance in and showed off my personality. It was definitely cheaper than my wedding dress. And I figure if it comes down to it and I just don’t feel like changing I don’t have to.

I had a reception dress! I only wore it for the last hour of my reception, when the big ballgown started to bug me dancing (people stepping on it, etc) I got it for an awesome deal, $100 on Ideeli (retails for $500!)
Here’s the model pic of my lovely!

@prisigtr: Maybe just bring a change of comfy shoes? You could also check Goodwill stores around prom.

My dress was really heavy but once you have it on you won’t want to take it off! I thought it would be an issue but it really wasn’t, I didn’t even think about it the day of the wedding and am really glad I stuck with just the one dress.

Ever since I have been dreaming of my wedding, I knew I wanted a reception dress. But now I am not so sure… I love my wedding dress so much, I kinda don’t want to take it off, plus I think it would be fun to arrive at our wedding night hotel in my gown. We’ll see…. still debating.
Anyway the reception dress I have been eyeing (it’s perfect and I have been looking for something like it for a while now) is a little over $50. I am thinking if I want to spend the money on the dress or use it for something else in the wedding…we’ll see.

Just wanted to get some opinions on this dress. What do you think? Pretty?

I originally liked the idea of two dresses, having a short fun party dress for the reception. But now, even though my dress is extremely heavy and the wedding will be in July, I know I’m not getting another one. I love my dress too much and I’m only going to get to wear it one day!

@CountryRose: Love that! Very vintage and glamourous!
