I’m getting married in about 7 months, and I have my wedding dress, but I’m now thinking about if I need a different dress for the reception?! My dress has a very pretty medium-lenth train… I’m just thinking it might be hard to keep sitting/standing, dancing, eating, etc in that dress…
Have any of you had a different dress for the reception? If so, where did you get yours? Pics please!!
(my whole life, I’ve been very tomboy-ish, never into dresses/fashion until this last year, so I don’t know the best places to shop!)
Thanks!! 🙂

Have you considered bustling it for the reception?

Yep, bustle.
If you want another dress then do it! It’s your day!

This is the train on my dress…is bustling an option? I’m very new to this…I’ve only been to one wedding in my life, and her dress was bustled but much different.

chelseanhilliard: I think it is possible, just talk to a seamtress to see the cost and if you like the look of it. Personally it doesnt like the look so I prefer to get a second dress. And sometimes the second dress might be cheaper to get your dress bustled. It also depends on how much you love your dress. There are brides that wish they kept the same dress throughout the event looking back.

chelseanhilliard: Sure! You can hustle pretty much anything. I think the train flip bustle might look nice for yours, but have a browse of the many different styles:

mtmt1311: I agree…I think certain dresses look right bustled, and certain dresses don’t look right bustled…I don’t think mine would look right. I’m thinking I’ll end up with a 2nd dress, I just don’t know where to begin.
kooshball5: Thanks for the link! I had no idea there were so many different styles of bustling…I agree with you, out of those, I think the Train Flip bustle would look best on my dress.

chelseanhilliard: I think it depends on the style you like, short vs long. I think you could rent a formal white/ivory dress or buy a white prom dress, not buying another wedding dress. Or you could get use a replica shop and design a fun wedding dress that you like.

I didn’t want a bustle as I have a big butt lol and I fell in love with this lush dress at DB so using it for reception and have a traditional gown for ceremony and pictures.

mtmt1311: this is true…I’m thinking I could even pull off a white cocktail/formal dress also…it’s a small wedding, not super fancy as we are paying ourselves (and I’m only 21

). Ceremony will be at my soon to be father-in-law’s church (he’s a pastor, he is marrying us!) and the reception at a local fire hall we will be decorating.

chelseanhilliard: my husband was 21 when we got married too

And it is so sweet of your Future Father-In-Law.
It is the dress I would probably get if I get a reception dress, a prom dress.
