Good day ladies! Need your opinions on having a reception dress.
My wedding is not until 6pm, so that’s why I’m torn. I could totally see doing a reception dress if I had an earlier wedding, but not sure I should be getting out of my wedding dress after only a few hours. #1 dress criteria was “danceability”. I wanted to buy something I could boogie in… and my dress delivers.
Can you convince me one way or the other on getting a reception dress?

I found a dress I absolutely loved and didn’t want to take off. My dress was an a-line and had a little poof but I had no problem moving or dancing in it. I also put it on at 12pm and took it off at 11pm and loved wearing it every minute.

I also had an A-line and managed to dance just fine the whole reception!

I wish I could’ve worn my dress for longer! A friend of mine changed into a reception dress after the cake cutting and once she got her pictures back regretted it because she doesn’t think it looked as good as the first one. She also said she didn’t really feel like a bride in it. As long as you feel comfortable in your dress I wouldn’t worry about changing into a different one.

I don’t really get the whole reception dress thing – it’s not that I disagree with it because I’ve seen some brides in fabulous reception wear, but I just can’t imagine going through all the trouble to find THE dress and then only wearing it for a 30 minute ceremony and some pictures.

I really want a reception dress but SO keeps saying no because he wants to seem me in my ceremony dress the whole night.

Though I found my dress on the first trip (dress #1 actually), I tend to agree with you. All the agony of figuring out the best style, shape, accessories switching into a cocktail dress seems silly. Although those who do ROCK IT!
