I’m sure opinions will be all across the board on this one, but personally, I don’t like or understand the idea of reception dresses. If I’m spending that much money on my wedding dress, I’m going to wear it for as long as possible! And I’m going to let people ooh and ahh over it at the reception, as well as the ceremony. Of all the weddings I’ve been to (and there haven’t been that many), the ceremony was super short compared to the reception, so wearing a beautiful, expensive dress for such a short time feels like a huge waste to me. But, that’s just how I feel. If you really love another dress or if you really want to change, then go for it! People do it all the time.

I am having one because my dress is heavy and I wouldn’t be able to drop it like its hot in it on the dance floor.  Plus my wedding is on a Sunday and that Monday is a holiday so we are having an after party after at a club.

I agree with the other PP who with the cost of the dress I want everyone to ohh and ahh over it as long as possible.  My reception dress is also a wedding gown but it is super sexy and light weight and I can honestly say I think it is prettier than my wedding gown…

After spending what I consider to be a small fortune for my wedding dress I am going to make sure that the party goes on until the next day so I get my wear out of it!  No reception dress for me!

I originally thought I wanted a second dress because mine is SO friggin’ heavy, but the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t bare the thought of changing out of it so soon!!

Im going to wear my dress for as long as humanley possible (I might see if I can get away with wearing it in the house after the wedding lol) I agree with everyone else though I think you have spent so much on your dress and you are so in love with it (or you wouldnt have picked it right) then surely you want to keep it on and have lots of people see you in it. But if you see another dress you love and think you will be too uncomfortable in your wedding dress then you should go for it – its your wedding day, milk it Tongue Out

I’m spending so much money on my dress that I think a reception dress is a waste of money.  I don’t understand them, at all.

Nah, I only get to be a bride once so I want to be seen in my wedding dress all night. Why change into a dress that I could just as easily wear at the club?

    Absolutely!

OP – There was a thread recently of Bees posting pictures of them breaking it down on the dance floor in the wedding dresses.  You totally don’t need a seperate reception dress to do that.  I hardly left the dance floor all night!

My dress didn’t cost me a fortune, and I originally had plans to change into a reception dress. But because I love my dress soo much, I’m ditching this idea, and I’ll be having an after party dress for the after party.
