We had the reception venue for 5 hours of drinking/eating/dancing. We started cocktail hour at 7 and the DJ wrapped it up at midnight.

We had the room until 12am and we partied until then. Afterwards my planner and family helped get all my items together. We were so pumped and still excited that about 25 of our guests fololwed us to the pool and we jumped in.

our cocktail hour was 430-530 and dinner starting at 6.

we ended our reception at 10pm. we had our limo come back to pick us up with friends & bridal party to take us downtown to our favorite rooftop lounnge and continued our party there.

there were a few people who stayed at the reception… we probably had about 20 people left on the dance floor? maybe more, im not sure. we also had some ppl at the bar and photobooth, and we cut the photobooth at 1030.

i dont know what happened after we left but im sure most ppl left themselves to their hotel, a bar or whichever.

We have it until 11pm so we’ll probably be out by 10:30

Our reception was from about 5-10 pm, from cocktail hour to the end.  I think a 4-5 hour reception is about average.

Our venue is on the beach and by code has to end parties by 11pm. We wanted a 4 hour reception (+ 1 for cocktails before that) so we counted backwards and put the wedding at 5:30. I’ve never been to a wedding with a reception longer than 4 hours (+1 for cocktail hour) and some have been shorter, but there are brides on here who party for hours and hours until the early morn.
