We had problems with this issue as well.  We decided to use bubbles for a ceremony exit while we walk back down the aisle and to stay at our reception until the end.  We didn’t want the reception to reach it’s close and realize half of the guests had left as well as the issue of it being dark outside.

We were going to have a basket at the entry to the ceremony with the bubbles and have the officiant ask everyone to please stand and blow their bubbles at us as we walk back down the aisle.  We figured it was the only logical thing for us to do and it would make for some pretty pictures.

I used petals- they really caught the light. The only light in this photo is flash and my van’s headlights!

We’re using sparklers…but our second choice was bubbles 🙂

We actually are not doing a traditional exit. We will have one last solo dance and then he’ll carry me out in back-pack (essentially a piggy back) and we will leave.
