- Wedding: February 2011
Hey All 🙂
Sooo I’ve staked this site for a few months, planning my wedding and I’ve finally decided to write…. to vent.
Sooooo I called a wedding reception venue (which shall not be named) to place a hold on said venue for my Wonderfully Fabulous Splendiferous Wedding Reception. During this call I was told that I had one and one half weeks to come in with my deposit to reserve our date. I asked specifically: If someone came in with a deposit before I did for that date would priority be given to them? Stupid Lady responds: “Oh no. You have one and one half weeks to come in with your deposit. When that time is up, if you haven’t made your deposit, the date becomes available again.” Cool, I say. We had this little chatsy on Thursday.
That Monday I waltz in with FDH on my lunch break, huge grins on our faces, certified bank check in hand, ready to check one more thing off of our already crammed, totally backed up list. We sit down with the representative only to find out they GAVE OUR DATE AWAY, get this: BY ACCIDENT!!!! What did I do? Cried like a baby, that’s what! Not the most adult thing to do but hey, emotions were running high and chocolate was running low on my already crappy day. The person on duty when I called to make the hold did not make the notation correctly in their books so when the next person requested the date, MY DATE, they put down the deposit and the date (MY DATE!!!) was given to them *sob*. Now, I will say in their defense (I guess) that my FDH and I have not been very proactive i our wedding planning. We got engaged in July of 2010 and scheduled The Big Show for September of 2011. However when my mother passed this past September we decided to speed things up… ALOT… like January, alot (AND NO, I’M NOT PREGNANT) So we have just now REALLY begun planning this wedding (berate, me and my poor planning skills later) Back to the story: After my crying spell (I mean snot and EVERYTHING, I deserved an EMMY), I was offered everything under the sun in their facility that wasn’t nailed to the floor or not already included in the package. Some of which included:
2k off of the total cost
$5 off of each plate
Free champagne toast
Free piano player for my cocktail hour in a private salon adjacent to the bar
Free cheese display (offered at $7 pp)
Exclusive use of the ENTIRE facility
And all the bum kissing I can stand for their little snaffu!
However the wedding was pushed back to February 5, 2011 instead of January 22, 2011. In keeping with my poor planning, my invitations have NOT been printed (all of my guests are from here and know about the wedding) so the changes were more damaging to my emotions than anything. So although I am a bit crazy for continuing to work with the venue, they are WELL within my budget, I got some extra planning weeks, some free stuff, and one more thing checked off of our a little less crammed, not so totally backed up list.
