Hey girls ~ are there many GR area brides on here? We don’t seem to have a very active local board!
I’m wondering if anyone, in their searching, has come across my dream reception site… hahaha, because I haven’t!
I’m looking for:
-within 30 minutes drive of NE GR (we’re probably having our ceremony at the chapel on Calvin’s campus)
-meal seating for 200
-allows outside caterers (this is the problem I’m running into)
-provids tables and chairs (or is really cheap to rent them), and ideally linens/tableware
-$800-1000 (yes, we’re a budget couple; thus wanting outside caterers; we’re hoping to do soup and sandwiches and thus keep our food price under $15 a head after gratuity/taxes!)
Prince Center is NOT our ideal (that’s the only suggestion the Knot local board was able to come up with… ) because they’re outside our price range AND require you to use their expensive catering (none of the meals of which I love anyway).

oh yeah, and we may be getting married in the dead of winter, January, so … outdoor venues aren’t really an option. Snow and all… 🙂

Sorry for such a late response, but the venue I’m having my reception at has all of your requirements (except the price). If you keep it under 175 people, it’s $1,500 I believe. http://www.hitchingpostevents.com/Rates.html
I think for your catering you can do WELL under $15 per person. Adeline Leigh has a budget bride plan. 3 entrees, 3 side dishes, and rolls for $9.95 a person. All you have to pay is sales tax (and catering surcharge if your venue has one). http://www.adelineleighwedding.com/brides_on_a_budget
I’m a budget bride as well, so if you have any other questions, ask!

have you contacted the fredrick meijer gardens to see if they would have any options? they have a ton of indoor space and indoor gardens since you’re in january. i graduated from gvsu so i know the area pretty well, just having trouble thinking of places where you can bring outdoor food…my sorority has held events at gvsu, the children’s mesuem, country clubs, and noto’s (which is an italian place in gr).

Also, have you checked on the Wyoming Knights of Columbus? http://www.kofc4362.com/banquetcenter.html
I think they MIGHT allow outside caterers, but am not positive.
