My Fiance are finally looking at reception venues. It seems like it has taken me for ever to get him to go and look. 🙂
As a child and even as an adult I love museums and I thought it would be unique and interesting to have our wedding reception in a Museum. Becuase of the size of our guest list all art museums in our area are out. I suggested the national Railroad museum as an option as it would accomidate the totall number of people we have on our guest list (we are expecting about 350 people). My Fiance is afraid that if we go with the Railroad Museuem as our venue that people will assume we have a thing for trains (which we do not).
I am wondering if you all think this might be an isse? And if so how to I address it. As the space is lovely and big and almost perfect for what I have in mind.

I can’t imagine why that would be an issue. If someone does have the guts to say something (which they shouldn’t), you can either change the subject or tell them that you love museums in general and leave it at that. if you love the space, then it shouldn’t matter to anyone else why it was chosen.

I think part of the reason he is concerned is that he doesnt want to get gifts that are train themed.

I don’t think it will be an issue. Just minimize the train references. So on save the dates you can just put the city, not the place. I am looking for venues too right now and there was some website with lists of all museums and then I could google the place to see if they hosted events. Just google “museums YOUR STATE”

Registering will prevent that. Folks don’t give gifts associated with the venue so that shouldn’t be an issue.

As the PP stated, gifts aren’t usually given based on the venue. If you love museums and found one that accomodates your size and budget….go for it!

@smcgirly01: I dont think people would think that. We have a dance, auto, and horse racing museum in our area and they are all wedding venues. Most people just book with them because they like the venue, not because of the type of museum it is.

I think you are lucky to find a museum venue for that many people! I have the same number of guests as you and I’m struggling to find a cool place. I say go for it!
